There is a 'standard' in AA. You see most other forums, there
are not much serious and real activities going on (exceptions are
religious forums and government affliated forums and some
others...) and so the mods there are to ensure smooth flow in the
sub-forums.
In AA, people post their issues and cases. They want comments,
answers of some sorts, advices, help and perhaps 'listening' ears
or rather seeing eyes. While many of us do see the dangers of
internet and cannot take 100% of the truth in whatever is written,
there are still many who believe in the words posted in AA and more
often than not, they take it for real.
Genuine case or no, everyone who posted are responsible for what
they have pen in for they may directly or indirectly influence the
readers or those who saw some 'help' in it. Even moderators are not
spared for they too are responsible for what they have
written.
Point 1 is whereby the moderator does not get involve in any cases
or issues and thus are spared of many implications and
complication.
Point 2 is when the moderator is giving advices or comments or
views, he/she/it has become part of the community that interacts
with the people who read it and, like all other forumites, are help
accountible for what they say and does.
Yun is actually correct when he said mods of AA are no different
from mods of other sub-forums. Its in our mindset that made the
difference between AA mods and other mods. We subconsciously see AA
mods to be some 'role models' and peripheral front liners. Also the
statement in Aunt Agony is rather misleading to those who choose to
see inbetween the lines.
A strange yet not surprising paradox. Our perception of how an AA
mod is more than simple a mod is also the cause of so many issues
that happened recently. There is NO clear line as to what is the
role of an AA mod and there will never be for as long as we all
have our different views of an Aunt Agony moderator.
Do NOT take what I have written for real for its only my own
perception and in a certain point of view, it is wrong.
*PS: I think I should post this in Whinehouse instead. Its only me
ranting.
