Sorry for spamming, but I’m just going to post a series of random loading analysis I did during my joyride today. It’s public holiday off-peak so they are low and may not reflect the true loading during peak hours, but at least they can show the loading pattern at least during weekends and PH.

- Most pax at the airport alight at Tampines Ave 7 and 2, indicating very few people take 34 to Tampines West and Punggol; many of these people alighted in Tampines East seem to be airport staff so they may have chosen Tampines as a nearby residential town
- Contrary to my observation last time (when a lot of pax used 34 as an Townlink service between Ave 5 and Ave 2), this time the loading is clear cut: Airport ~~> Tampines East, Tampines -> IKEA, Tampines -> Punggol, IKEA -> Punggol~~
On the other hand, the bus stop at the very west of Tampines Ave 5 (between Ave 8 and Ave 10) is ready (but shielded), and the road expansion is also completed, so what are they waiting for?

Wow... that's a lot of traveling you did in one day... good stamina... would have been more useful if you did peak hour weekday loading analysis... loading on 386 makes me laugh especially between Waterway and Punggol East... I had same observation... that full loop from Waterway to Punggol East had only 4 pax.

Where do you board 850E? This was a loading analysis I did two months back. Maybe some pattern has changed since then but since I have it on my ipad, i'll share it here.

Ave 11 - 19 pax

Ave 6 - 28, 34, 41

Ring Road - 51, 60, 70 (stop before ave 11. I got down here as I had to go for my breakfast meeting in Yishun)

So 3rd stop on Ring road bus already had 70 pax. If MANA22, no chance anyone can board... but for E500 pax on remaining stops should have been able to board, unless yours is last stop before express to city.

I would have expected that slot to have DD already... B'coz DD is not needed for Tampines - Pasir Ris stretch but needed for Pasir Ris - Yishun instead. So if you had waited maybe 1 bus more, next could have been a DD.

Yes you are right. More so after Yishun temp interchange coz it is far from MRT. So definitely people prefer 860 to Khatib now. Hence, those 13 buses and 860A. 806 anyway was bursting beyond its means as well. So now gets more relief in its loading. 803 also doing quite okay.

For 29 pax peak loading you want DDs? Really!!?!?!!?! The one you might have boarded might be delayed by 30 mins or something.

there might be downroute trips for PM peak... they usually dun announce for downroute trips.. just like sv269... 269A operate during pm/evening, but in the am also got lots of downroute trips which are unannounced....

Haha. News have come out that sbs 85 will be getting double decker buses. Yeah 1 more Punggol service to have DDs. This must be mainly due to increasing population in sengkang west area which heightened the need for DDs. In a way, it helps to alleviate the fact that sengkang west has too few bus services. Sbs 85 has finally seen its heydays that there are not enough loading. By the way, when is sbs 3 turn to have DDs? Cheers.

(Surprised to see so many pax at interchange... Transferring to feeders?)

- Yes, svc 85 has loading.
- I say the bus may be 8 minutes late, because the tv in interchange first showed next bus was 6.07pm, but the bus only arrived at 6.15pm. But I didn't see the subsequent bus even after a long time, so it may not be late, just that the timings shown on tv are inaccurate
- Some of those who boarded at Punggol East alighted at Rivervale and Compassvale, but not many
- Suspect that most of the pax who boarded at Sengkang East Rd alighted at Fernvale, but some may have travelled all the way to Yishun
- I lost count at Sengkang West Way because I was unable to see the number of pax boarding/alighting. General pattern at Sengkang West Way is that, at each stop, around 5-6 pax will alight and 4-5 will board, the numbers are very close; at Jln Kayu, 1-2 pax alight at each stop while 3-4 board
- Still, most pax on 85 travel (from Sengkang or even Punggol) to Yishun/Khatib; some use it as an intra-town service within Sengkang, some use it as a feeder to Sengkang West Way
- I believe svc 85 has potential as people seem to prefer svc 85 as a point-to-point service to Yishun (especially Sengkang West residents) instead of 965. Thus loading may increase if frequency is boosted
- Although somehow packed, no need for DDs for now. But it's not a service with only 20 pax during peak hours!
