Who here say that 84 have average loading of 20-25 pax at most times of day? Even weekends and PHs? Really? I can see 84 can leave interchange with 50-55 pax, or even 60+, on board during weekends. Sure a lower capacity bus can’t handle this load.

Only happen during these long holidays especially for those fishing kakis..84 nowadays freq is way better than last time...Today i saw first bus packed to the brim but second bus is only full seated..Still can cope..Other weekends buses are almost empty

* The M variant still helps... note that it is now more connector for Punggol road to Sengkang East/West Ave

* Pax alighting along Punggol road = 28/35... this means only 7 pax went to Sengkang MRT from Sengkang East/West Ave (but take note that 5 alighted at stop before Sengkang MRT as well)

* Punggol Road to Sengkang MRT = 21 pax

* Clearly shows that sv 50 has taken away the MRT goers from Sengkang West... and ofcourse there is LRT.

I checked on iris.. there was 08 min difference between bus in front.. and bus at back was 06 min away. So basically there was 14 min interval between two 163 buses.. but ofcourse there will be times when 163M will bunch with 163 and then will go empty all the way back to MRT...

On another note, both sv 50/163 buses in opposite direction were packed.

AYE -- 27 (-6/3), 23 (-7/3) I alighted here...

** I didn't do the full route, but the part of route I observed this was the route:

DD (where I was) --> SD (in terminal) --> SD (crossed at WC road) --> DD (crossed WC market) --> DD (crossed at signal of Clementi Ave 2) --> DD (crossed at Clementi Ave 6) --> SD (crossed at first stop of AYE)... I suspect there will be 1 more SD enroute.

Yesterday, I was at the bus stop o/s Northpoint Shopping Centre, Svc 85 (SBS 3923 T) drove pass and I see a good load of both upper and lower deck of buses. I think it is good and beneficial for Svc 85 to have DDs...

I didn't manage to see any DDs on 39 yesterday.. Are they only being deployed during the morning and evening peaks?

Its because they cut 2 SDs in exchange for a DD thats why the loading is good.

201 current fleets is good enough..Most of the time its single decker loadings only..Only on certain timings DDs can be full too...But the ratio of 4:4 is good enough

I did manage to see DD on Svc39, yesterday I was at Tampines Bus Interchange, while waiting and boarding for Svc969's DD, I saw Svc39's DD arrive and departing same time as Svc969's DD at 1:15PM.

Dont punch me... but I got a feeling sv 39 loading has somewhat tanked in PM peak... AM still quite high... but PM noticed many times when I am driving on TPE... that even SDs are not absolutely packed.

** SBST could think of having downroutes from Guillemard road to CBD. Those buses that end at Shenton Way go off service can do downroute from Guillemard, will still get 100+ pax.

i take 39 regular. most peop think 39 load most for yishun. no true. most load is pasir ris town. pasir ris to yishun 60 peop during peak but good to double decker as long tpe distance. so people go in comfort.

from place like tamp av 2, east cc, 39 only service to pasir ris dr 1 through through. and lot peop take 39.

I know it can be challenging to keep accurate loading on stops where there is high alighting/boarding. I used to face this challenge quite a bit before. Here are a few tips what you could do:

Let's take for example sv 154 during AM peak towards Eunos. At Clementi MRT, you will typically have 35-40 pax alighting (from HDBs/condos along AYE), at the same time you will have some +50 pax boarding towards Ngee Ann.

This is what I do:

Take row 5 window of upper deck.

When the bus arrives to stop, I count the people who come close to door to board. Your concentration needs to be on people boarding at same time with one eye and your fingers you count pax alighting. Everytime 10 pax alight, deduct from those boarding.

Try doing it few times, you will find your own trick. I won't say it will be accurate, but it is still a good estimate +/- 5 pax.

I have validated this by then taking the count at King Albert and going to lower deck and verifying my count v/s those actually in bus. It has been pretty accurate 2-3 pax +/- but in overall scheme of things, it's not much! Let me know if this helps :)

The part that I have NOT BEEN able to master yet is loading calculation on bendy buses. Extremely tough.

Recorded a short clip of 113's loading after 6pm. While LTA said the loading is only 46% and has more than enuf space for ppl to board :/

Maybe 53M would solve the problem.

Instead of deploy DDs on 103 why dont they increase the number of DDs for 70?
