Well, I think the gf has a deeper relationship with the cyclist
who fell. She is just adopting the expressions of how a mother in
this culture would tell a child when he hurts himself. The
colleague is more on the outer rim of the relationship. Also, you
must take into account gender, if there are difference in age etc
to determine which response is 'sincere'. But I think this is not
the crux of the issue....the cyclist is just concerning about
himself and hopes or wish to find out which others will concern
extra much or to come to his help when he is in trouble. In other
words, insecure or wish to test commitments but can be very
possessive types; beware of mother complex. they use that as a
gauge to see whom to trust, can be close to them. maybe one should
learn to express concern when necessary than to be concerned. in
society, our lives and relationships have changed rapidly such that
those e.g. old feelings that are applicable from your parents
generations, may seem inappropriate today. best is stand on your
own, dont be so soft and be responsible for yourself....and don't
carry a phone when you don't need to especially sports. being
contactable all the time would only mean more relationship woes
why can we not have private time and need a phone
24 hours a day to bug one unless they are salesman or need it for
their jobs? this is one of the main culprit of distractions (and
accidents)
