I disagree. I always take 858 from Jalan Kayu to the airport and there are always at least 10 people boarding 858 to the airport from there. There is a demand to the airport from Jalan Kayu.

Without fail I take 858 at least twice a week. At Jln Kayu, yes around 10 pax would alight, but many will transfer to 168 which always tend to appear behind!

This was before TPE stop. Now, only 1-2 pax alight. Sometimes none at all.

For Jln Kayu, theres always 168 -> 858. Works too, anyways it's a seamless transfer at TPE and would have close to zero effects.

Jalan Kayu mainly have transfer passengers.. who want to change from one service to another... there are hardly any residents living near this bus stop.

So I agree, it makes sense for 858 to skip this stop and let pax transfer at TPE stop instead. But LTA will not want to even upset those 1-2 pax. IT is very cowardly and does not take bold, good decisions on existing services.

Why not let 161 call at jalan kayu and let 168 skip jln kayu? then sengkang west residents can have a bus svc to hougang. 1 stone kill 2 birds.

Either 161 or 168 will have to stop at Jalan Kayu. I prefer 161 to stop instead, rather than making 168 go down TPE bus stop, then again take detour for Jalan Kayu bus stop.

But then some might complain that the Bedok link at Jalan Kayu is lost. Does that really matter? Can these ppl not transfer at TPE stop instead?

I think there is a reason to 168 stopping at Jalan Kayu... Maybe possibly easy transfer to Svc 86 to Yio Chu Kang Road and faster way to get to AMK. Also with the companies such as ST and Apple, worker rather take bus than travel long in MRTs... JMO (Just my opinion)

With closure of Kotaraya II terminal, sv 170X and sv 160 will both become loop services.

For sv 160, it is a very far away looping point, surely causing delays and disrupting the frequency.

Kranji should become a full fledge interchange or terminal with space for 4-5 services to start from there. I think there is enough space around MRT as well to build terminal there.

If this happens apart from 170X, can start some services like 912 from there. This will create space at WRI for more trunk services.

160 load is quite okay on every bus. You also have to take into account that frequency is quite poor at 15-20 mins per bus and operating with only 13 buses. Hence, only those who HAVE to travel with 160 and don't have alternative, wait for it and take it.

i like 160 cause it's one of my fastest routes to Woodlands from Jurong..

U have not seen the weekend malaysians going home/turf club crowds. 160 would be sibei packed like 170

The press release mentioned there would be service for Jurong East and Bukit Batok. We assumed these will be two different services? Is it that this is only one service and we misinterpreted the press release?

Hi mr busanalyser, there will definitely 2 different services. Previously the press release shows 2. So if bukit batok to jurong east (loop) is 1, that means another 1 will be jurong east to somewhere else implementing maybe few weeks later? Cheers.

I am aware. It is a very unique route.. and ppl working along industrial areas of Woodlands road as well as those who want to go to Ten Mile Junction have direct service to Phoenix, BBT areas, Jurong.

Observed most ppl are long distance travelers with most buses having 45-50 pax for sure. But frequency is very poor.
