Confused??? you shouldn’t be. He is your patient, but once you start to have a relationship with him it is just common sense that you stop treating him. Refer him to someone else for his sickness and you can decide for yourself if you really want to have a personal relationship with him, unless you decide to marry him, then it’s ok for the wife to treat the husband, but then again they do go for second opinions too.
