Hi mr busAnalayser, yes economy of scale is very important. Thus
when only HDB flats near soo teck LRT are up few years ago, they
did not open soo teck LRT. They leave it closed. Instead, they made
sbs 43 stop at one more pair of bus-stop along Punggol way at soo
teck LRT. They also increased sbs 43 frequency which was used as a
feeder service to get home from Punggol mrt. As time goes by, sbs
119 is extended from sengkang to Punggol to serve this group of
people at Punggol sapphire along Punggol field.
Situation has changed now and since more flats have finished,
the possibility of re-routing sbs 43 is not very feasible.
Introducing a bus service soley for these residents will come much
later after the plan to finalise fhe roads is up. Meanwhile, to
keep holding back the West LRT from collecting service revenue is
also not feasible since flats around the 3 stations are ready. Thus
they decide to open finally after more than 14 years. Meanwhile in
view of low crowds, they make it uni-direction and also reduced
frequency of 8 mins. This is what they do to other developing areas
in sengkang west initially.
In early yr 2016, when the 57 million safra Punggol is up, the
Sam kee LRT station which is just besides it will be made
functional too. Cheers.
Ok makes sense. Though re-routing sv 43 would also be helpful in
addition to LRT because many of these people would want to travel
to Sengkang area, and can do it without LRT --> MRT or LRT
--> bus. It will only be adding 1-2 buses to sv 43, but will be
worth it, I guess.
