I hope for 854 it will be SD--> DD and not Bendy--> DD. But I predict it would be only 3-4DDs. The 2 BSEP slots will most probably be transfered to WLDEP and be converted by BSEP DDs. SMRT side I guess they might just convert 1 or 2 at most (Or maybe even none and BSEP adds one more DD slot).

854 needs high capacity buses but not in urgent need of DDs - the bendys are doing pretty fine because there is no express sector on this route and people dont go long haul anyway. Bendys are here to stay on this service for now because this service cant go 100% WLDEP due to the other end at Bedok But DDs on this service would see good usage of upper deck because this service plies SBST regions mostly.

For 857 no loss. I would rather more DDs be deployed on 857 from SMRT side than putting them on 854 because 857 has no perm bendy anywayand SMRT is unlikely to deploy any spare bendys (if there are) to this service too. Moreover the route of 857 is more unique than 854. For 854, Yishun to YCK Industrial area same as 857. YCK industrial area - Bowen Sec same as 70 and Bowen Sec to Bedok same as 25. The only unique sector would be between YCK residential areas and Eunos/Hougang industrial area and between Hougang residential areas and YCK industrial areas (people travelling these sectors are highly likely to patronise upper deck but still its not an urgent conversion.)

For 851, OC--> DD. This service also similar case to 854. Need more high capacity buses so no bendy-->DDs for now. But DDs will be used well because mostly plying in non-SMRT dominated territory and people travel mid haul for this service. Bendys are doing fine but since this service is WAB, it cant have too many O405Gs

After they deploy DD on service 851, 854 and 857, they can try deploy DDs on 855, 856 and 860. For 856, it can be good for DDs too, so give it a try.

855 need meh? I would be interested to see how DDs fair on 860, after the failure on 964. BSEP very stubborn uh, still insist to keep that DD on 964. Honestly, 860 is better suited for Bendys but since its under BSEP, no choice. But is the route suitable to DDs in terms of the turns it has to make?

For 856, its worth a try but IMO, no urgency unless its upgrading of BSEP SD slots. 856 has a majority bendy fleet now anyway, I would rather the DDs be used for SD--> DD conversions than Bendy--> DD conversions as far as the 201 ADLs are concerned. The O405G Habits are here to stay till atleast 2017 (given they are being refurbished) so when the time comes, SMRT can explore doing do Bendy--> DD conversion instead of a Bendy--> Bendy conversion for 856.

Well, between not getting a fleet add or a bad, but usable fleet add, what will you choose? Even though most of us knows that the ADL is not a good choice, given the current situation, and the choices we have, I am sure, we can agree that it is better than NOT having a fleet add at all.

How BSEP is stubborn? BSEP is saving SMRT and its lack of high capacity buses. What do you prefer from BSEP to have A22 on 964 rather than E500? Seriously? How can you even call the trial failed? If it was SMRT that changed a bendy slot to DD, I would have agreed with your argument. But for a high loading service like 964 during peak hours you need high capacity buses.

If this is your reasoning and you observe all JIS services and 78/79 in non-peak hours, you will not find many people. So SBST stupid to have all these services either full fleet DD or almost full fleet DD?

855 can def have the 2 BSEP slots converted to DD. Loading justifies it. I will also prefer to see E500s on 860 than the A22s. When it comes to 856, I agree with you there is no need to introduce DDs on this service. There aren't enough, so let this be a full bendy service with 1 BSEP that can be DD.

851 does not do very well with bendies. Always prone to congestion near Tiong Bahru. This is the reason it has lost so many bendy slots to SD. They should first do SD --> DD and gradually Bendy --> DD on this service.

854 is okay with bendies right now, the 2 BSEP slots can be converted to DD.

854 shouldnt have rigid in the first place, Bloody hell crowded to the door at YCK to Yishun, 857 rigid also the same crowded to the door. Luckily short distance to Yishun. 857 the crowd is from town, i had bad experience on 857 rigid. Freaking crowded bus and frequency sux.

857 is the WORST managed sv under SMRT. Only that no video was shot. How can such a high loading service not have bendies? Good at least now they are committed to give it DDs. I feel there has to be some turning issue somewhere... otherwise such a high loading service not getting bendies is very strange.. that too a service that is CBD bound.

Yeah ok you are right, a DD on 964 would do better than an A22. But this is where I feel SMRT and LTA should come to terms and not have double standards. If let SMRT purchase A24s already, they should take some under BSEP also and deploy them to services which are more suited for bendy.

For 851, the Bendy slots were reduced because of jams along tiong bahru meh? I thot was more because it became a WAB service. But now that you say it, 851 good to use DDs cos it goes through quite alot of congested areas.

I ride on 854 and 857 regularly. Yes SD is a no-go on 854 especially during peak hours. Non-peak still ok. I am sure BSEP will convert the 2 slots to DDs. SMRT side, I hope they convert another 2 SDs to high capacity too be it Bendy or DD. But with the number of MAN A22s SMRT has, i doubt this service will ever go 100% high capacity (Non-peak doesnt demand it too). But still priority to 857 to get DDs because it has no bendys at all. Did the weekend bendy slots disappear after closing of Bencoolen street because of the turns or issit because of the 857 berth too troublesome for bendy (last time even on weekends the bendys dont park there permanently- they drive in to board)? SMRT sure to have spare bendys from 184/964 for weekends mah. Though I highly doubt bencoolen street because DDs can turn. If I am not wrong I have taken a bendy on 857 even after the diversion

I am speculating here... but i think they stopped bendy slot on weekends bcoz ppl might have complained to have it on weekdays also. and given it is a cbd, suntec bound service, it must be frustrating office-goers that sv 857 has bendy on weekends but not weekdays. So instead of giving bendies on weekdays also, smrt decided to just not give it any until it got DDs. As I said, this is my personal opinion.

Yishun service that ought to get DDs from my personal observation is of course 851,Why?Simple..quite a numbers do take the service to Chinatown..Convert 9 slots including the 6 bendy duties to DDs might be a good start..5 full day and 4 split shift.

Next is 854,Bendy buses prove to be a bane at Bedok Int thus you see many bendy slots are reduced..Can convert 14 SD/Bendy slots to DDs might be better..Gradually can convert another 4 SD slots to DD again if the A95 buses come..Off peak also can be packed..

857 another clusterfark service,Weekdays only need 6 DDs the most,Weekends will be good if 3 full day and 2 TQ shift are running with DDs..Off peak demand dont justified for DD..

860?Unless they extend it further else then justified for DDs if not stick with A24

Actually Bedok interchange is doing fine with bendys on 854. As long as you dont have too many coming in at a go. Which really never happens on 854. So no hurry. Bendy slots are probably reduced due to shortages for bendys and excessive A22s lying around. For now upgrade SD to DD and keeping bendys is best to increase capacity. Hoping to convert 14 bendy duties is too ambitious... you gotta wait for 2nd production batch which will probably come in 2017 or late 2016. Anyway bendys are there to stay on 854 as long as AMDEP does partial control. WLDEP will nvr full control 854.

understand that LTA very likely has no interest in having bendy buses in our system at all but for now it's smrt's business what they want to buy and register, LTA can't do anything about it for now until parts of the bus fleet is under it's control. however, they'll of course top up the orders with additional BSEP orders if they need it, obviously they don't see a need for BSEP A24s so it's irrelevant to say LTA is applying double standards by 'allowing' smrt to register a24s but not buy any of them under BSEP. it's all part of planning for the fleet in the future. even if they are registered under BSEP in spite of LTA having no interest in having bendies, what will happen to those a24s in the 2020s , barely 6-7 years old, when the whole system is under the contract model? rot at roadside? if LTA wanted bendies they would buy them now not later.
