On second thought, I remember there are plans for a new park
located West of Downtown MRT Station called the “Central Linear
Park”, of which part of the site of the proposed new
park is currently occupied by the ECP.
Since the land is only allocated for park (recreation use), why
not construct a bus depot infrastructure at the land – either
underground (below
the park) or on surface level (the park
above)(who says the park cannot be
elevated?);
why not first construct a bus
depot infrastructure at the land, before constructing the Central Linear
Park?
Since the land for CLP has already been wasted, it would instead
add more value to the
land if a bus facility is constructed on it. Also, since the
one constructing and owning the possible bus facility is LTA (and
leased out to operators), which is the government, it does
not need to "buy" the land because the land has already been
"bought" by the government. In short, instead of having to
incur high costs for the land, it would actually make the land more
valuable if a bus facility is constructed on
it.
Besides, I do not think it would cost a lot to construct an
underground bus facility. The worst is that the costs is a bit
higher than that of constructing the new Serangoon Bus
Interchange.
Hence, Costs should not be
an issue.
Did you or did you not read my post?
Do you want another Nicoll Highway collapse?
After that incident, they found that excavating in that area is
(even more) not some suka-suka venture, and here you are, spouting
words as though they are cheap!
