I fell into depression after Os accident. Drinking was the only
thing I could do everyday. I go out everyday after work and returns
home only after 3am. My work was affected. 2 months after I left O,
on a Wednesday night, 5 March 2003, I went out with a gal friend to
drink. I had drank a lot and reached home at 3 plus. I began to cry
as Ive thought of him again. I had record of severe migraine all
along and was taking anti-depression pills. The more I thought of
O, the more I want to end everything. I took out all my pills and
swallowed them. I think I had a total of 30 over pills. Mix of my
migraine pills and anti-depression pills. I want to end everything,
dont wish to think about it anymore.
But immediately after I swallowed all the pills, I began to regret.
A lot of memories flashed back and I realised Im not ready to die.
I quickly called my best friend and told her Im sorry. She called
another of our best friend and they quickly rushed to my house. At
this point of time, my dad happened to come home. He saw me crying
and the leftover plastic holders of the pills and knew what had
happened. He grabbed me and rushed me to Tan Tock Seng. We met one
of my best friend downstairs and she went to the hospital with us.
My dad and my friend were crying. I was already feeling very drowsy
at that time.
I remembered I was wheeled into the A&E subconsciously. The
doctors and nurses attended to me. They inserted a tube down my
throat to my stomach to pump out all the pills. I saw some greenish
fluid being extracted out. The feeling was terrible and I passed
out after that.
The next moment when I opened my eyes slightly, I saw a lot of my
friends and family standing in front of my bed. I was in the normal
ward and was still feeling drowsy. After awhile, I was suddenly
pushed to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) because I fell into a coma.
I was in the ICU for 2 days, 1 day was in a coma. The verdict was
terrible. When I woke up, doctor told me that the migraine pills
which I took contains a very high level of morphine, which could
damage any part of my organs, including my brains. I was in a
life-threatening situation. It was also only then that I realised
the seriousness of the whole thing. I was kept under observation.
My heartbeat was not stable and my blood pressure was low. There
was insufficient oxygen in my blood and they took 9 tubes of blood
from me for tests. I was put on drip, no food or drink for me for 3
days. I was forced to drink at least 5 bottles of charcoal in a
liquid form. Police came to take my statement and social medical
workers came to counsel me.
The team of social medical workers knew me as Os gf because they
were the group who attended to Os case. So, they knew the whole
story and covered up in the report for me. Police classified it as
overdose instead of attempted suicide. I spent 6 days in the
hospital and was asked to go back for psychiatric
treatments.
