I remember I used to have fair weathered friends like this. I was dumb enough to help them out and in the end they did better than me and forgot about me somehow. When I was in uni ,I was a lil wiser....I don't really help anyone beyond lecture notes or tutor them unless they have proved to be true friends. People can call u selfish but ultimately they are actually competing against you. I basically kept quiet ...pretend I don't know anything and ,nobody except my real friends talked to me and asked me out. Those friends are still my friends today, we did well together and we kept in contact. Some of these friends have been there for me for 5 years already.

Perhaps ur helping the wrong people for the wrong reasons. Stop and observe who ur real friend is. It is selfish I know but that was how I survived in my workplace politics. I don't teach all that I know for self preservation purposes hence I am not expendable ......yet I work as part of a team by contributing knowledge that everyone knows and I never hesitate to claim credit for what I have done ...I don't let people claim my work as their own . My boss and workers call me a good team member because I seem to be contributing more than what I am contributing.

Probably u have to learn how to seem like ur helping but when ur not actually helping - i.e. not beyond ur class textbooks or notes.Keep ur private study notes to urself. Slowly these fair weather friends will back off once they find u cannot help them to achieve a result they are looking for.

Personally... I often couldn't care less about how people see me... Okay... That's for me...

Understand that some people would just use you and treat you like a trash no matter what... So if you're really bothered about how they would look at you... DON'T... They'll still treat you like trash anyhow... Won't make much of a difference... Instead, learn to channel your efforts into much more worthy places...

Here, there're just 2 things I wanna add...

1st of all, if you really ain't bothered about how people treat you and you're not expecting any returns... Then help them... That's life... Sometimes you can expect... And people often would think of life as a Newtonian's Turn... What you give, people give you back... Sorry to say, life don't always work that way... There're always alternatives around...

So like what I've previously said... If you wanna give, don't give in hope of a definite return... If you're asking for a definite return and know that chances are you won't be getting any back... Don't give.... You won't be able to handle the reality....

2nd thing. Helping with school works is helping with school work... If you wanna hang around with people, and be involved in their activities... HANG AROUND with them... BE INVOLVED in the 1st place? Things don't happen for no reason... Your character..? Do you mix around with people... Or at least a little? Common topics...? Sad to say, just because you help them out with school work, probably won't make you any much more a sociable guy... So WORK on... Take your INITIATIVES.... If you want things to HAPPEN, DON'T just sit down there and WAIT for them to happen... MAKE them happen.... Wink

Of course I did hang around, I could have type out the dynamics of my 'interactions' with my friends, which is more complex than I sit around 'waiting for something to happen'. Rolling Eyes

And of course I am not begging for them to go their outings, because I got I got my free time going for.urm, some other outings I shall not reveal for the moment, hehehe....

But the thing is, well..dang forget it...
