Hi ppl, please please kindly advise me what to do. Currently I've been offered a job offer, but the only con is that the working location is very far from my home. The journey takes about 1hr20min. As for the working environment, I can't say much about it because I have not meet all the collegues there.

I have other job interviews coming, but I have yet gone through them. As such, I can't say that I will be employed by them. So the decision now, is do I sign up for the job offered, or do I take the risk and wait till I gone through the other job interviews?

Wah, 1hr 20min travelling time will drive me crazy, serious. Maybe not yet, but later I’ll be lamenting about that distance.

If distance is a major concern, why apply for this job in the first place?

If what attracts you to job is more important than distance,
you should try it out first.

It depends on how desperate your financial situation is. I know of a lot of people who travels every day from West to East of S’pore or working in ulu Tuas. My opinion is to take the job & get some experience rather than sit & wait cos u might not get any offers. Who knows, if u like the job, u can always move hse. or get carpool

I agreed with gerry with rgd to the financial situation factor. But if u r waiting for other job offers to offer u terms, why not wait a few days n weigh all pros n cons on all job offers? Of cos if ur other job offers r pending interviews, then u got 2 consider the financial factor.

Are you badly in need of the job or in some way?

Nowadays it's not easy to get a job. If it's of a reasonable acceptability, why not give it a shot?

How confident you are of getting either of the other 2 job offers?

The IDEA is... I would suggest? If you can prolong the offer for a few more days and try quickly to get the other 2 interviews over with, that would be MOST IDEA...

However, given that such a circumstance might not be permited. It'll be wise to just accept the job and get back to your 'interviews status' if you find that the job is really OUT OF EXPECTATION.. And UNBEARABLE...

AND ULTIMATELY... If you're a more 'hiong' type. You can just take up the job (does it has a probation period?) and CONTINUE with your 2 JOB INTERVIEWS... (though it might not be so easy to get your leave day. that one you'll have to figure out a way yourself)

If you're HIT with a BETTER OFFER, just either QUIT the 1st JOB with an excuse like the environment doesn't suits you or blah blah blah.. (whatever you can think of) OR you can simply FAIL in your probation if there's one?

Take the job offer first but still keep a lookout for a better job offer. Take things one step at a time, no point if you worry too much into it...who knows, you might like the working environment of this job offer and stick to it.

...What do you think the economic now...if you think it is good....you can go ahead to wait for more opportunities... if it is not ...... dun be choosy & work...1st you got the income...2nd you gain working experiences... different working environments have different job responsiblities & criterias....

lol i m in the same boat as u. i live in woodlands n my workplace is in defu lane in hougang. the whole journey took 1 h 20min+. it was damn shack man. gonna wake up v early in morning.

basically i do not think you should worry about this.
you have hopes of a better and more satisfying job and
from your posting seems like you are even willing to switch job
if you have to to fulfill that.

if you are holding to a job, which is also your one and
only job in life, then u should worry more.

i see a lot of such characters around.....
when they see new ppl joining the company....
they all pis sed off their skirts and pants
and will try anything and everyting to gossip,
bring them newbie rookies down......

If your gut tellings you it's bad, don't take it!

If your head tells you, it's ok and bearable take it lah!

Consider seriously the consequences before signing up. What if i sigh up, have to travel long hours and dread it? What can i do about it? Get a car? Financially feasiblilty? Read and do the sums properly. Other than getting a car, what other options?

Possibility of me being employed by other companies are?

For me, I always lookout for other jobs while taking up temp job ( if i don't like it).

If you really taking up the job, have a postive mindset towards it.
