of course it ain't no toy. it just felt weird having no recoil at all... and i was bracing myself for a hard one too...

my fren is a regular himself. he inside camp oso nv see sniper walking ard.. in 3 years inside, he onli manage to see once a sniper instructor walking ard with his sniper tee.. w0ot.

with reference to weidev's post, snipers do not just come from the commandos...
every infantry formation has their own snipers...
Snipers are brigade's assets... you will know wat i mean in the future if you have yet to go NS Smile

for sniper training, firstly you must go to SISPEC (School of Infantry Specialist), finish up your BSLC ( Basic Section Leader Course) and then get posted to SIW ( School of Infantry Weapons) to do your sniper course... Smile

i was once in a camp where snipers are trained.
wat i know is tat they r very demanding.
and little ppl is able to go for tat specialisation.
their clothes or are like bushes which make it heavy.
they need to stay at place for long period of time.
eg on top of a tree, sleep on it and stationary without detected.
good eyesight and marksmanship is a must.
i will say it is tough job.
but only they are able to use sniper riffle which make them unquie,
however i dun know if they will take in intakes for every round.
just goes with the flow la.

and normal snipers r required to stay at their stakeout for 3 days. cdo ones 14 days.

and wat sinned said is their ROA in a nutshell.

suffice to say since they r estab to a bde, they mus be quite an elite grp. and so their selection and trg will proportionately be tuff.

In my 2 and a half years of NS, I managed to see a two-man team Army sniper in flesh.

These two are really well discipline with their camouflage and their footsteps. My team were walking toward our OP when we came across them.

We were kinda surprised by their presence cos we din't hear footsteps besides ours. That's how good they are tactically. As Wuming mentioned abt the name of their clothing... the were fully clothed in their Guille suit and had camoued rifles with em.

In cdo, snipers are included within each section. Apart from shooting, their navigation skills are top -class - if there was a sniper in our team, he would automatically get the navigation job.

I'm not sure what sniper weapon is being used now, but back then it was the Steyr SSG69. We did some basic cross-training for each vocation, and we got a shot at using the Steyrs. The recoil damned near took my shoulder off.

recoil from the expanding gases due to the ignition of the gun powder in the chamber and the movement of the bullet head right? not from the cycling action of the bot becos its a bolt action rifle right?
when i fired the SSG669 with blanks there was totally no recoil at all.

Hmm - good question, actually.

Just pulling the answer out of thin air Mr. Green recoil could be from the gases being pushed out of the barrel in front of the projectile.

I'll have to check up on that. I didn't realise that the recoil was low with blanks - all I used were Lapua rounds.

You probably passed near to a lot of snipers in training, but you just could not see them…

last time during one of my ex there was two bushes lying in the centre of the path as my section was going to our objective naturally my section move away fr the bush den i aiyo was the last to go past the bushes n the playful one who like to kick things while walking fooling ard lah.. i went n kick one of the bushes while i walked past for fun lah...suddenly the bush stand up...wau lau kena shock i tot y got swamp thing or wat.. quickly rise my weapon to the bush protect myself lor tot enemy or wat.. wah... relli takes mi a few mintues to realise actually the bushes were snipers when they start to walk away after staring at mi ...... luckily i din shout contacted if not damn paiseh anyway i was also too shocked to shout lah when i saw two bushes suddenly stand up n walk away after i gave one a kick...
