Hi u guys.. haha i'm kinda amused watching u coo and ponder over
snipers.. i'm actually from siw. The School of Infantry Weapons,
and i come under SSC, the SAF (ARMY) Shooting Contingent. after
almost a year of service in ssc, i've seen plenty of snipers come
and go and i must say the come in different sizes and shapes.
snipers as some of u guys know are not superhuman or people with
powerful bladders. they could be the brudder sitting next to u in
the cinema eating your popcorn..
the training is not as shiong as people imagine. true it takes
endurance and all and carrying an alice pack is no joker. but if u
think sniper training is shiong, wait till u try ranger course or
any of the naval diving unit/commando cses....
tooxtreme, if u want to be a sniper with the SAF, its not as simple
as saying you want to be one. i would advise u to signal your
intention early by letting your platoon commander in bmtc know
about it.. thats about all that u can do if u want to be a sniper.
after that u could be posted to sispec or ocs for command training.
if you go to ocs u can almost kiss it goodbye.. it really depends
on which unit u go to and whether that requires snipers. i can tell
u your best bet is to join the guardsmen....dun think i can reveal
the reason why but thats it.. and if u really really wanna make
being a sniper as your profession. i suggest u sign on with a
combat unit and keep declaring that u want to be a sniper to every
single officer in charge of u until u get it.. lol
