i ended a 1 year plus r/s.. i hope to get back together one day.. but it won't happen anytime soon.. he told me that he doesn't want to remain frens.. but he still contacts thru the net, for games or just to ask me some stuffs.. so i figured.. we could just start off as frens once again.. though it may be arkward.. but it's still worth a shot..

usually, staying firm frens after a breakup will happen when the decision to end the r/s is a mutual one.. not a one-sided decision..

friendship to love.. love to friendship... friendship to love again...
it's a cycle..
all things are possible..

I think u shd focus on this sentence u posted 'He doesn't want to remain frens'.......even though u still want to be friends...he told u this. Have u ever wondered why he said this? If he sincerely willing to be friends, then it's great. If he just wants to be friends bcos he wants favours such as 'asking u for stuffs' then it's not worthwhile..think abt it ya? Rolling Eyes

cant be lovers...at least can be frens.

for me...i will nv let any relationship ended up as enemy...i love everyone and will not hate anyone be it guy or gal. remain as frens sounds not bad...but in the course of friendship..will u want to enter into another form of relationship again?

well... now I don't know... she's the one who suggested the break, and she wants to remain friends, though I feel that she's just saying that to be polite, but in the course of our relationship we never really quarreled and always on good terms... now, she just never look me up anymore, all conversation will have to be initiated by me... sigh... of course... she has a new boy friend now I guess, so she might feel awkward talking to me again.

find another companion?? long way to go I guess. har har har... well the wounds are still too big and recent... time will heal...

yar.. he said that above sentence indeed.. but we were engaged in a heated arugement back then.. he MAY have said it in a fit of anger..
whether he meant it, i won't noe..
but til now, 3.5 mths after we went our seperate ways.. he still do ask where i am, or who i'm out with.. when i'm out til pretty late.. he does ask me to go hm since it's late..
i dunno whether it's a game that he's playing with me, but nevertheless, i still tink there's a possibility to remain frens after our breakup.

How can both parties who feel so much for each other turn into enemy overnight....even if after they broke up, feelings still linger.

By refusing to be friends, is like trying to escape from the problem.
Give it some time, but don't forget about him/her. Try to stay in touch, but at the same time don't send the wrong signals to him/her.

I've enjoyed tremendous friendship with all (actually 3 only Very Happy )my ex-gf, cause they understand me more than anyone else.

Oh another thing... the chances of remaining as friends also depend on the situation leading up to the break-up. So it's co-related to the other topic inside the forumns abt giving reasons for a break-up.

So try to persuade her/him thats things aren't working out instead of telling him'her that you don't love him/her anymore

actually,.. it depends on the reason for the breakup..
i personally have one relationship that ended,.. but both parties became closer friends,.. without any intention of getting back together.. sometimes,.. a breakup is not always bad.. its the process of breaking up that determines whether the story ends there,. or it can be the start of a brand new story.. Same here... my ex and I aree like buddies coz we know each other's habits too well but we don't have much to talk about other than asking about trivials in life. But we are on very good talking terms and able to joke and tease each other. None of us wants to get back together as we are very comfy with the current status quo.

We share similar interests but diff directions in life, hence can only be friends, not lovers.
