Heat shield is piece of metal which use to cover the hot exhaust
pipe, to prevent direct contact with hot surface, usually used in
the custom exhaust pipes.
As you can see normally in Chopper bike, (Honda Shadow, etc) the
exhaust pipes run below the rider seat, there are some part of the
exhuast pipe are cover with heat shield to prevent the rider get
scalding.
