i'm sourcing for the cheapest kevlar i can find, hopefully with
quantity, with the support of everyone, we can enjoy the benefits
at a cheaper cost. the main point of the strap is not to protect
our chins; kevlar is a soft fabric, while it has high strength, it
is not rigid. if you buang with your chin covered with kevlar, you
will not be cut, guaranteed, but your jaw will be out of shape.

as for sewing, the stitches still can be cut off. i just got an
email from a professor in NTU who has done research on kevlar. he
said that proper adhesives (which he did not elaborate which), can
successfully bind kevlar to form an impermeable, strong structure.
the idea would be to glue the strap to the helmet, and glue the end
to contain the D-rings.
lastly, kevlar is fire-proof. other than using industrial strength
bolt cutters to cut your helmet lock, i dunno how the ah-beng can
stun your helmet liao.
if it costs $10 or so (hopefully, i'm still trying to source for
the material), why not when it can save you many many $40s for
helmets?
by the way i'm not taking any of your replies negatively, just hope
to convince you guys that IF it can be done at a reasonable cost,
everyone stands to benefit!
