hmmm... read the little argument tt went around... i was guilty of saying that they smell and ogle too much but den if u are a gal u will feel if its too much or a complement they ogled at ya yeah? anyway i haf bangalas as frens too but of coz those who are well mannnered.. maybe its like wat some of ya mentioned its only the minority who behaves tis way. Today while i was bathing i did tot of the fact they contributed much to our society... if not where do we find the buildings in my country up so fast? i had realised there aint even 1% of the singaporeans willing to do such odd jobs. so maybe we should juz learn to respect them more and they will respect us back also and wun be oggling like how many of u feel they had been doing too much? and giving them higher wages is a way to solve prob maybe but not the extent of buying porns and prositution but juz let them noe we treasure them like any others we dun discriminate them. maybe the person who suggested this to write to the media and let this prob be solved in singapore?

Basically this is the kind of attitudes that allow nazi concentration camps to arise in the first place, when one group of people loses respect for another through xenophobia, loss of respect and so on and so forth.

I'm not sure who the real villians are here, but basically I feel that some Singaporeans, with their wealth and money and material possesions so what apparently thinks he's some kind of higher form of life then those people who leave home and family to go to an alien land so that they have a hope of a better life.

Oggling? That's an excuse. Basically it's not who oggles more or less, (basically I doubt there's much difference), but more of an issue that has racist undertones. You girls and boys dun really mind if you are being oggled by another Singaporean, in fact, some even get an ego boost to be regarded as attractive. But when an Blangadeshi oggles at them, they are discusted because they regard these people as lowly dogs that shold have no right to look at them.

Basically, it is an issue with racist undertones, a basic lack of respect for another human being and never wanting to see "them" (as if there is even supposed to be a "them") as a seperate group. How you think the German public condoned all the discusting things the Nazi govt. did in WW2? They held exactly the kind of attitude you are holding towards them now. Same thing: "Those scheming, cunning, large-nosed animal jews." is no different from "Those smelly, lustful, stupid bangalas".

You pple dun get it do you. Basically the real problematic issue here is not what they DO, but OUR attitudes towards them. Nothign can be more disturbing then the pure hate and contempt, msot of it misdirected, I see for them flowing out from our arrogrant high pedestals and mindsets.

What I see here is not righteous anger but rather using their supposed flaws (which are sterotyped anyway), of a very small proportion of the actual number working here, as a smokescreen for our own unadmited racist and discrimotary feelings towards them.

Why? Because if all of them were as bad as you'd say, we'll already have a very serious crime problem liao. The thing is, you arrogrant singaporeans wun even notice them even if they died infront of you, and the only time you all make noise is when they do something to offend you. And to lump the black sheep all together... is just utterly primitive and discusting behavior.

Hello, if anything, your attitudes demostrated here suggest you all are no more cultured them them. You may have gone from rags to riches (BTW, your grandparents were the very group of pple you now spit on and dispise) but apparently have not lost the rags mentality.

When I see the terms "black monkeys", "smelly","discusting" and such being applied to them, I just can't help but remember that back then in the old days, when our grandparents were immigrants to Singapore... weren't this the very lanugage and contempt that the British held for them? All I am pointing out, is that these underlying contempt and supposedly minor mindsets we hold agaisnt these people are fertile ground for more horrendus things to set foot in. As demostrated already, some the attitudes here demostrated are to put it lightly, something a potential Adolf can easily use. Lack of tolerance, understanding, sterotype, dehumanization... Division of "them" and "us".

Basically, if you think the Bangalas' behavior is discusting, from the behaviour and attitudes expressed in this thread... I say we're no better, if not worse.
