The curb weight of the Skoda is about 1590kg. The "over 2 tonne" refers to its maximum weight (plus payload, passengers, cargo and all).

The Vios does not weight under a tonne. From specs, it already says its min. weight is 1020kg and that's probably without a driver.

I dun understand with some cabbies,Though they went through theories for VL and mostly driving all day some still got that kind of dimwit habit.Once inside a Citycab taxi,The driver non stop cursing and swearing at Motorbikes,OPC Cars,Luxury cars,Heavy vehicles.I just cant tolerate his idiotic attitude.I told him to concentrate more on his driving rather than others but he was unhappy.Upon alighting i told him that the road is for every motorists to use and not just for Taxis only and get on with life rather than grumble.KNS to board this kind of cabby in the early morning sial!

Pardon my many mistakes.. 9.2 is for manual? Ah then I'm very sorry lol.. Didn;t know that a superb manual can actually shift faster than a tiptronic, but then again maybe it has to do with the gear ratios as well?

As for the whatcar link, let me kindly link it here.. though if its really for the manual version for 9.2s, then I would have pwned myself.. and yes i apologise for misintepreting, 350Nm is the peak torque achievable.. though with a simple chip up or increase in boost pressure, can be easily increased, but if you go the tuning route, then there will never be an end because vios can similarly be tuned and i'm sure the NA class at sepang / PG offers no lack of high performing vios-es.

I think the turbodiesel is only good for torque rather than high speed. Due to their low proximity of the redline and that the full torque often comes at low rpm too, the diesel engine will feel "dead" at ultra high speed(>160km/h), or at flatout phase near their top speed.

Once sat inside a Skoda Superb 2.5V6 turbodiesel taxi.The cabbies claimed that Skoda taxis can outrun a Subaru WRX2.0 Turbocharge petrol,Wonder how true it is..

The cabbie is talking rubbish..VS stock wrx with speed cut, top speed is bout there...but if is 0-100km, the taxi eat dust.

Of cos if the wrx driver never run, taxi win, of cos outrun lah... lorry also can outrun z350 cos 350 not flooring accerator mah..

not slow. i dare to say im faster than 50% of vehicles on the road. but ah, the taxi pickup is really too fast. and im not willing to floor my pedal cuz of the petrol prices. can u imagine, a 22 year old paying for the petrol of a 2.5 v6?

One thing to take note that most European Turbo diesel cars can run compared tothier Japanese/Korean counterparts.Except the speedo is not accurate enough,TD cars can hit up to 130kmh(Which i really dun believe it,Tried my Uncle Sonata) in just 1 minute.I feel the 130kmh similiar to pertol powered cars 115kmh.

How do you exactly "feel" that a car is travelling at 115km/h or 130km/h? wet your finger and stick it out of the window?

Lemme share with you my experience: I once travelled in a Phantom on the NE Highway at 160km/h, and it didn't felt it was doing so cos it was too f**king quiet.

Unless you've really tried both a 2.0 petrol Sonata and your uncle's Sonata, I'm not convinced with your opinion there.

1min is a very long time. To reach 130kmh is easily achievable for most higher CC sedans, unless you're talking about the Chery QQ.

You don't judge speed by your "feelings". Similar to the example I had given, how is it fair to compare between sitting in a comfy Sonata cab with sitting in a 5 year old Nissan Sunny?

It's hard to explain in details unless you've tried,Rolls Royce with the speed of 180 also quite quiet since its a bigger cc car.Yes i've tried many car models including petrol powered Sonatas.I've used to work at PSA as a driver driving those all new cars to their respective agents and shops.Its up to you if you still in doubt with me,I rest my case here.

Flatout means topping out the car at it's max speed.

Additionally, the phase of speed near the top speed(can be characterised where even acc fully depressed, speed increase very slowly) is called the flatout phase
