Sound proofing is major project. I wouldn't trust myself to DIY it. Our March has foldable rear seats so noise comes right through from the exhaust and wheel areas.

A few things may help - quieter tyres and synthetic oil.

I find the aircon sound very strange. When I first turn it on after starting the engine, there is a loud hissing sound as if the aircon is leaking! Anybody else experience this?

I have the same experience. My march has the same hissing sound when i start my engine. I do not pay attention to it as nobody has commented about it.

I was thinking jus sound proofing the back as i have already done my front 2 doors... dosent seem that difficult.

Pls advice on whether is it better to take the car in the 1st week of the month? Cos my SE told me that I can collect @ end nov, and was told by my friend that it is better to collect in the beginning of the month (Can get better resell value next time when selling).

Dynamat is a high end soundproof mat .. i didnt read up the details thou but was thinking that SLIENT will be a slightly cheaper one ..

IMHO, a lot of resell value hinged on balance COE and balance PARF which is calculated on per day basis, so it really shouldnt matter, but psycologically an early Dec car sounds better than late Nov car...

but why you thinking of selling even before collecting ah? Wink like that must factor in whether selling to dealer or direct or scrap also wor...

Had my 1st 1000km servicing done today at Jurong. When told of the loud wind/ ambient noise, they "adjusted" the doors for me, gonna test it out later.

saw www.silent.com.sg on ST classifieds, anybody any comments on effectiveness/ price/ service?

Bro, you should definitely take the car as soon as possible.

For resale, they will base it on month/year of registration, and also Year of Manufacture. Just look at all the car ads in the papers. It doesn't matter what day of the month you register, main thing is the month.

For you, do you know where your car is while it waits for you? It is sitting in the sun/rain in some Nissan storage compound. Car dealers are not going to waste money storing your car in a nice covered warehouse. It is under manufacturer's warranty so it's not their problem. Even luxury cars like Audi and Mercedes sit in the sun while waiting for customers. So get your car asap bro!

was thinking of silent as they said it was frm $40 onwards..........car also got alot of things to SP ..like wheel arch... firewall... boot, roof, 4 doors , fender , blah blah... mine was done in toa payoh lor 8..........

ask the dark lord nyc..........not too sure on Dynamat Extreme? Try Aeon Customs at 494 Changi Rd, look for Eddie...........as not too sure wht is the charges... dun forget that SP material works by mass-loading the panels of the floor board and doorskins. and hence makes ur car heavier => higher FC.

Wah DIY sound proof, not that easy leh. becos when i saw the guy who did for me looks tough! Becos Sound proofing got two type, 1 layer and double layer. One layer like no effect. The inner layer is a tough job , is a big project! if u did it wrongly u will get urself into trouble, if u did not clean well, the SP mat will drop off after sometime.

If anyone want to do SP just go to SILENT, they specialise in doing Sound Proofing. I got my car done up there, they give me special dealer's rate. If anyone walk in they going to charge u normal price , so just msg me if anyone interested.

Sound proof is quite personal requirement. Depend what type of noise that u want to cut down, U go to Silent they will guide u.
