I seldom buy models. When I buy one, I would see the bus model that
i want (MAN/scania/enviro etc). There are some bus fans who are
hardcore model collectors in a sense that even if the bus looks
diff (but same/almost the same model/make), they would buy.
I would go 1/76 at anything below HK300, though most of them are
sold at 288. Essentially means $65 thereabouts, never above
$70.
I dont buy 7cm models unless as gifts. I have bought a 1/76
remote controlled model before. lol..
I didnt buy those with backdrop.. where to put at home?
I seldom buy books also.. S$30 is the cap.
Good comparison of choices... Here are mine:
Models: I am a person who is super 'niao' (calculative) about
technical (engine power and specs). This extends to models. If the
real vehicle is underpowered or some cocky design plus no special
livery/colors, then its a sure no-buy. Lousy or low specs but
beautiful color/design (rarely the case) goes through
consideration. Prices wise not more than SGD 100 or what its worth
in my eyes.
1/150 models: Definite for Japanese models, as I collect
(powered) N-gauge model trains too, they are pretty useful for any
diorama/comparisons.
Books: Price justifies the book and what it contains. Translated
versions I would be willing to pay only 10 - 50 percent less than
original text. Most expensive hobby book that I have runs into the
hundred (non-bus).
