Predict Next Set of Bus Service Improvements

Capacity increase with DDs:svc 242 (2 DDs, 4 SDs) +1 242 only had 1 DD.

SBST163 SG

I thought packed during 0730-0915..26 also same pattern mah

ya thats why im saying it needs DDs for this cause SD cannot cope during these times. HGDEP is quite easy on their DDs for their services I realised compared to other bus services.

Sorry - may I ask on which sector did you see the loading of s80 to have dropped?

Well it's just a general observation and guess, no specific areas. Considering 80 has replaced 2 DDs with 2 SDs in the past few months shows theres a drop in demand right? 9673A was one of the DDs that left 80 for an SD.

I still see s80 packed between Bugis and Hougang. s80 has had 6SDs ever since I remember in its fleet. I don't think there has been an addition or reduction in DDs or SDs on this service. The part of the route where it does not have high loading is Bugis to Harbourfront where SD can easily take the load.

Dun forget…

222, 268, 269, 272, 354, 359 still need upgrading to meet 10 mins BSEP QoS.. 275 for the 15 mins QoS…

That’s for feeder…

Sv 11, 40, 42, 57, 84, 115, 156, 191, 194, 402, 403, 927 still need to meet the BSEP req..

Of these services, 222 needs more DDs and 268 needs DDs to be introduced at least on trial basis.

As per your comment, next set of service improvements is 34, 45, 52, 103, 105, 179/179A/241. This means none of the services you have listed above are getting improvements even though they do not meet QoS.

BusAnalayzer SG

Also, no SMRT service in next set of BSEP improvements?

SBST163 SG

I'm not sure either.

Yishun 812,853,855 need additional bus that run on full days IMHO

According to SGWiki, yes. Total 14 DDs.

But short of 1 bus though...

Important to know what this 1 bus is ~ is it a SD or DD? I advocate full fleet DD for s23. After all it is an express service, pity for people to stand all the way, plus has good loading in both directions (HL in your words)

Total run time on s179 is 35 minutes during peak hours. If you consider rest time at Boon Lay as another 10 minutes, total time for bus = 45 minutes.

If 179 has 03 minute frequency, should have 15DDs, if 02 minute frequency then 22-23 DDs. It puzzles me as to how are there 27-28DDs deployed on s179/179A. Is the frequency less than 2 mins? I don't think so.

If someone could please explain.

svc 179 doesn't run full fleet almost about 90% of time.. Consider the crossover and emergency switch over to other services..

eh, i think let sbst275 explain..

TIB 501 D SG

SGWiki did not state whether it's a DD or SD though... 23 full fleet DD should be the best way, same for 65(which is full DD for now).

You sure 179's run time is 35min?

its a SD.

sbst275 SG

35 mins??? sure or not… lol… The morning traffic condition…

179’s schedule is pretty complex w/ some diff…

like 0515 till 1st full trip there’s downroutes from Pioneer Rd Nth towards BNL.

There’s crossovers from 241 > 179 during the AM peak, especially after 0745 – 0800 period…

The 242 ADD will crossover to 179A/ 179 after 0745.

All 179A duties will do 1 more S179 trip before swing [for the S Shifts]. That’s where the 2 mins freq comes from.

That’s AM peak…

PM peak… is where the colourful part comes about…

I did a full loop in 35 mins. Yes, there was no traffic. Still believe won't be more than 45 mins. Correct me if I am wrong.

Anyway, what is the colourful part that you are referring to?

50-+5 wrights

162-+3 DD in exchange for 3 KUB

Reason because i waited 30 min at my school and no bus come, when it come it was packed

Nobody ask you take 162.

My brother is from ai tong school and he has a direct 162 to take while going home from school. But instead he takes 52/162/410 out to upp thomson rd and take 132/165/166 instead.

TIB868X SG

PM peak ops for 179A never fails to entertain sbst275

sbst275 SG

AM peak during acad term it can be as long as 48 mins… it’s mostly to do w/ the traffic bottleneck at West St 63 & Pioneer Rd Nth…

I don't understand why SBST refrains from full fleet DDs for some routes. Apart from s65, s98, s179 and JIS services, there are many other bus services that deserve full fleet DDs.

s23, s25, s72, s87, s88, s99, s161, s168, s241

For most of these services, there is just 1 SD that makes it short of full fleet DD. The route has high loading, so why deploy that 1 or 2 SDs? Advertisements can't be a justification as many of the SDs on these services don't even have ads. There is something more to it.
