Hanor... He wanted to deploy DDs on SMRT feeders when he actually knows that 912/913's pax are short haul, then he denies it by calling the intratowns "longer" than SBST townlinks.

Then he say it's a myth that DDs won't do well in CCK, WDL and YIS.

And he also say it's a myth that bendies are faster than DDs, LIKE REAL ARH!!! I TOOK 969 BENDY FEW DAYS AGO AND IT OVERTOOK ALL THE BUSES LIKE NOBODY'S BUSINESS... Besides bendies have higher torque than VO3X, but for some reason the Batch 2B WEG2s are slower even with the higher torque output...

On 168, it is faster than 969 if you want to go to Woodlands Int... Suck it up!! When 25 and 854 are along Hougang Ave 2, there is no difference in the time. I NEVER said 25 is faster. Don't misconstrue the facts. Ofcourse, unless as 2601D mentioned, 854 overtakes without taking pax, which it is notorious of.

WDL Feeders/Intratowns can NEVER have DDs. ESPECIALLY 900/911/913.

913 for example. The boarding and unloading process for a bendy at Admiralty Stn takes about only 30 seconds. Cannot believe how long would it have taken had it been a DD doing that svc. I have alr observed enough chaos at Bedok Stn, everyday the buses behind have to wait... just for a single 222 DD to unload and board all of its pax.

And TIB868X should be right - people normally will speed when they are in the pressure of keeping up tight schedules. However, this still proves that SMRT buses are much faster that SBST buses. BusAnalyzer had "analyzed" shit here.

Did I say I wanted to prove bendies are the best? Which post did you see me doing that??? All I wanted to say is all SDs, DDs and bendies are equal, it's just the matter of deploying the right bus to the right service to suit passenger needs, like Service 913 of course. Bendies for all SMRT feeders and intratowns. The trunk services can have DDs, while the low demand services can have SDs, and those with restrictions of course, like Service 200.

I did not compare the whole route of 168 to 969, but instead compare both of them at TPE itself. 969 was meant to ferry passengers from Yishun to Tampines, not from WDL to TAM. The commuters at YIS would rather take 969 than that snail pace service 39...

You did say bendies are the best. Go and look at what you write on your home page of userid TIB501D. Though you never claimed it properly, it still means bendies are the best. Now I understand why SBS1000U disagress with you. Plus there's no need to deploy bendy or DD when the loading is high. It's just a matter of which high capacity buses they use. Even after so long, you still dont understand why SBST cant buy bendies and why SMRT cant buy DDs. And how are you 100% sure people would take 969 instead of 39. 39 is there to help 969 tank the load in the first place. If 969 is full, people wouldn't want to waste their time to wait for the next 969. They will take 39 instead. And 39 is slow because it's using buses with low hp. Just kick out those low hp buses and kick in those high hp buses, and the matter is solved. Simple as that.

Both effeciency(speed) and safety(speed control) play a part. What if a service is considered "safe driving" but is terribly slow? That's how service 161 is... 161 and 969 travel roughly the same distance, but 161 is pathetically slow in that sense. 168 is faster because of the route and not the bus type or bus chassis, as 969 passes by WDL, Gambas Ave and YIS before turning left to SLE.

I don't expect every bus to like "die die must speed above 70", because safety also plays a part in this. However, have you ever experienced the snail paces of services 23, 39, 72, 81 and 161? Ouch! My butt hurts whenever I ride these services(full journey or at least 3/4 of the journey), worse than standing all the way onboard 965 or 969... At least I like 168 which has both effeciency and safety, and also at the same time proves to be a very reliable service.

Have you ever observed the boarding and alighting of service 222 at Bedok Stn, or even 154 and 183 holding up all the buses behind at Clementi Station. Even if you use 3 doors DD, still have to climb down the steep and narrow stairs...

My userid homepage was intended to be a joke, not reality, and that is also based on personal preference and not how practical it is.

Plus, I actually wanted for both companies to remain using their own type of high capacity bus in future, but then again... if I type this on the DD4SMRT topic, I will get blasted by people that wanted to say that there is no rule that SMRT cannot buy DDs, then I had no choice but to follow suit with their way of thinking that SMRT should have both high capacity buses, basically to avoid getting flamed by others.

lets be very very clear.... SBST's scheduling for highway services is better in the way they do not require the drivers to exceed speed limits or drive flagrantly fast. no such thing for SMRT, the schedules are tight enough to make the SL exceed the legal speed limit. Maybe driving at 80km/h is wonderful for speed demons like you but is not desirable in the name of safety, we don't need large flying bullets on the already dangerous highways. i have observed that most if not all of the SMRT buses on the highways exceed the speed limit, there can only be one reason for this, that the tight schedule is to be met. it is disappointing some people disregard safety in the name of 'speed' and 'effeciency'. the 161 and 168 DDs always keep to 60km/h on the highways, so the only reason that other buses such as 969 bendy buses could overtake those DDs like nobody's business was because it was driving flagrantly fast. and who needs so much horsepower for the bendies when the speed limit is only 60km/h....

Do note the fact that SMRT buses also speed at non highway places. The SBST buses are not in tight schedule, so they keep up to around 50 - 60km/h on the normal roads.

For the highways, SBST will only run at 70km/h, whereas you'll notice that SMRT speed at over 80km/h

If you want 161 to fly, you can go back in time during the early 2000s.

When 161 had a fleet of only 9, with a frequency of 20 minutes.

And when the scheduling was so tight that it took a VSO to be stopped by traffic police on the highway before they did something about speeding.

And where strange antics by 161 BCs desperate to further increase the speed included the bizarre act of putting the bus in neutral downhill. That allowed the bus to accelerate to speeds you guys can scarcely believe.

To what end?

The 161 back then was unreliable, SD dominated fleet, and speeding everywhere the bus went.

Is that what you guys want?

DDs impractical for 900 901 902. maybe it would be alright for 903 since its the longest. 911 913 should stick with bendies due to the nature of the routes, maybe 912 could be a candidate for DDs

903 should be alright for DDs actually. 900, 911, 912 and 913 are impractical for DDs while 901 and 902 can use it. However, 901 and 902's commuters are also mostly short-haul, like 912 and 913.

For YIS, 800, 804, 811, 812 are impractical while 806 is DD-friendly. 806's commuters are mostly long haul, but it uses bendies due to fast alighting at Yishun MRT, as seen in TIB1218R's video. It took only one minute for all the pax to clear.

CCK on the other hand, 302 is something like 912 and 913, so no DD. 307 is due to CCK St 62 and Teck Whye Lane so no DD, and 300 might not get DDs due to either CCK Ave 2 or the CCK Ave 5 roundabout.

If SMRT gets DDs, put it on 190 and 106, and probably only on 903. 188, 851, 854 and 963 can use DDs while 169 and 969 can still stick with bendies.

Back to topic, the slowest SBST services in my opinion are 23, 39, 72, 81, and 161.

While the fastest one is 168.

The slowest SMRT service might be 858 while the fastest ones are 169, 961(scheduling issues, unpredictable frequency at times, not enough buses and overkill route), 965 and 969.
