Tender notice in SMRT's webpage, there's still hope for bendies
since KJDEP is the only depot that is DD-friendly for SMRT. I would
rather have a mix of DDs on 190 and 106 and bendies on the
others.
If it is really bendies, will it be O530G, MAN NG363 or MAN Lion
City G? I will be in heaven already
!
Anyways, I've already given a suggestion to LTA in facebook to
not remove bendies. It is really a LIMIT and not a ban...
Ang Mo Kio Depot's lease is going to be up soon. SMRT will have to
move the depot elsewhere which thus they can build a double decker
friendly depot to replace. They also had built a new one for
Woodlands as well which is double decker friendly as well.
The govt is looking into Hong Kong transportation as a role
model for its future public transport system. Thus Singapore system
might most likely to adopt from Hong Kong version with slight
changes for local needs. It is highly likely more double deckers in
future, especially for SBST. Not sure about SMRT but it is better
for them to operate fully on single deckers if they stubbornly do
not use double deckers. Bendy buses are not recommended and
suitable for the future in Singapore public transport system,
especially there will be more buses and more bus services.
What I see now in Woodlands, Yishun and Chua Chu Kang is
already chhaotic enough
