Hmm, maybe I should contribute the Changi Point (Now known as
Changi Village) Bus Services. Some FAQs below.
In the past, which bus company used to operate the Changi
Point / Changi Village Bus Services before its bus reorganisation
on 11 Apr 1971?
Well, there were only 3 main services and 1 variant services
operated by Changi Bus Co. Ltd. before its 1971
re-organistaion.
CBC 1 - Changi Pt to Capitol Building
CBC 4 - Changi Village to Telok Paku Sch
CBC 5- Changi Village to Lloyd Lease Estate
CBC 1A - Changi Point to Tanah Merah Rd
Changi Bus Co Ltd also operates 1 main and variant service each
from Guillemard Rd. CBC 3 would operate from Guillemard Rd / Lim Ah
Woo Rd to Kg Batatk off Jln Eunos, while CBC 3A, from Guillemard Rd
/ Lim Ah Woo Rd to Kaki Bukit Malay Settlement.
During the Bus Reoragnisation on 11 Apr 1971, whereby 11
bus companies including STC were re-organised into 4 bus companies
together with STC, what are the bus services that were introduced
and which bus company group they fall into?
The Changi Point / Changi Village bus services were under the ABS
Group, with 3 services, Services 1, 2 & 4.
1 - Changi Point to Delta Cirus
2 - Changi Point to C'wealth Ave/North Buona Vista Rd
4 - Changi Point to Lloyd Leas Estate (Loop)
Were there any introduction of any bus services between the
period of 1971 to 1974?
There was ABS 1A and 2A in fact. They were the variant of ABS 1 and
2 respectively, terminating at the same terminating point.
ABS 1 runs via Changi Rd, Kallang Rd, Beach Rd, Senton Way
ABS 1A runs via Telok Paku Rd, Tanah Merah Besar Rd, North and
South Bridge Rds.
ABS 2 runs via Changi Rd, NOrth Bridge Rd, South Bridhe Rd
ABS 2A runs via Telok Paku Rd, Connaugh t Dr, Beach Rd, Shenton
Way.
ABS 1 A and 2A would proceed to Telok Paku Rd, Nicool Dr, Tanah
Merah Beasr Rd, Upp Changi Rd, New Changi Rd and continue its route
via Changi Rd.
During the 1974 Rationalisation, what were the changes
made?
Basically, the variants affected. Service 1A became Service 3 while
Service 2A was withdrawn.
It was noted that Service 3 was subsequently withdrawn just few
years later.
Were there any more introduction of Changi Point Bus
Services made in the late 1970s?
Service 9, from Geylang Fringe CP to Changi Point was introduced in
1976.
With the introduction of feeder bus services at Changi Point, 3 new
services were introduced - 210, 213, 218
210 and 213 loops at Old Sarum Rd. 210 runs trough Nethravon Rd
while 213 would serve the Drug Rehab Centre before looping at Old
Sarum Rd.
218 was introduced when Changi Hospital became a government
hospital, which was formerly known as the RAF Changi Hospital and
took over its operations.
Why was Upp Changi Rd was renamed as Changi Village Rd? And how
Changi Point became Changi Village?
Upp Changi Rd existed as a dirt track serving the rural districts
of Changi in the past. With the cutting of its roads of the Upp
Changi Rd, with the development of Chai Chee Rd/Bedok New Town and
the development of Changi Airport, Upp Changi Rd became segmented.
Changi Village, in fact was part of Upp Changi Rd and to avoid
further confusion, the segment of the road serving Changi Village
became Changi Village Rd.
Changi Village became a landmark, partly because of a famous
seafood restaurant at Changi Village Road and a small holiday
accomodation units at the HDB flats.
What were the services being introduced in the later stages
till the present day? And were there any withdrawal of services
during the period?
On the feeders - 210, 213, 218, it was believed that due to weak
demand, the services were withdrawn.
Service 1 was withdrawn in 1989.
Service 2 was amneded to Loyang Ave and Loyang Way in 1981 and was
shortened to New Bridge Rd instead of Buona Vista during the MRT
Rationalisation.
Service 14 from Bt Marah to Somapah, was extended to Changi Village
in 1989, with the closure of Sompah Ter and subsequently shortened
to Bedok Int.
Service 29 was amended to Changi Village in 1994, when Service 19
was introduced. It was amended to serve Tampines St 41 and Ave 9 in
2003.
===============================================================
IN addition, 2 new services were introduced - 59 and 109 making it
into 4 services in Changi Village
59 - From Bishan to Changi Village introduced on 31 JUl 2005
109 - From Serangoon to Changi Viallge introduced on 28 May
