Are there any bus ply Hu Ching Rd in the past?Thought saw a SBS bus pass by Jurong Town Pri Sch when i was a kid

Where was the former W'lands interchange located, before Woodlands regional interchange was opened in '96?

anyway, when did 856 go under w'lands control, and Vice-versa for 854,5 to AMK

Old Woodlands interchange is located near the checkpoint along Woodlands Centre Road carpark. U can see a few of service 170 buses parking there.

Service 856 went under full WLDEP only in 1998 when WLDEP commence operations. In the past was dual AM/KJ controlled.

Service 855 was once minority under KJDEP, the rest under AMDEP. Became dual AM/WL controlled, after which became full AMDEP controlled during the SBS/Tibs swop in 1999.

Service 854 was all the while full AMDEP. It did went dual AM/WL for a short period of time in 1999, after which went back to full AMDEP again.

Anyway, why doesnt services like 58,59,72,159,161,163,168 go centralized, just like 198 on BB, even though it belongs to the boon lay route group?

the reason why i suggested is because the timing to reach the interchange is like 'not balanced enough'

Hmm... all these depends on SBST. In the past some of these services were dual controlled like services 58 (AM/BN), 72 (AM/HG), 159 (BR/HG) and 161 (AM/HG). Also add on service 160 and 506 under BBDEP though it belongs to the Jurong East route group.

if didn't remember wrongly the very first Woodlands Int was actually Marsiling Terminal when SBS opened it around 1978.

169, 180, 182, 372 terminated there. Later on Woodlands Ctr Int was built and 178, 181, 204, 208 was added to Woodlands's Bus network.

The reason is because, AM is near, whereas HG is nowhere near, and placing it under HGs control, will make it more centralized.

Service 72 initially plied from YCK to Seagate along AMK Ave 5. It was integrated with the former service 80 (Hougang Ctrl to Tampines) to become a YCK - Tampines service. The integrated service 72 used HGDEP Volvo MK3s previously from service 80 as well as some MB0405s from AMDEP for a start. It was only sometime later when service 72 went under full AMDEP control.

Service 85 all the while is under HGDEP, never controlled by AMDEP before.

Hmm, I think i got mentioned before

900, 901, 902 and 904 only loops at the old Woodlands Checkpoint terminus. 905 and 906 doesn't loop there.

In addition, 911, 912 & 913 continue serving the Woodlands Checkpoint terminus until Mar 2003 when the terminus can no longer be used for buses to enter. The problem is that the old bus bay in the terminus is frequently used for illegal parking since 2001, when mototrists were unable to find a proper parking lots in the car park. It was sealed up to curb illegal parking.

Another point to note: 901 still terminate at the old Woodlands Int when its Woodlands services were amended to Woodlands Reg Int on 4 Feb 1996.

Some missed out facts: When the Woodlands Chekpt Terminus closed down in early 2003, and 911, 912, 913 would terminate at Marsiling Rd. Passengers who want to continue the trip will board the bus from Woodlands Centre Rd (opp the Town Garden)

when 163 terminated at Jln Kayu it was full amdep. Its merc went to 159 due to their route changes.

372 does not exist during the late 1970s or the early 1980s. It was a new feeder service from Woodlands to Marsiling Road on 8 Feb 1982 by SBS and actualy meant for passengers who are affected by the service 169 cahnges.

178 and 208 used to terminate at Marsiling Ter and 169 covers the route of Admiralty Rd on 29 Nov 1981.

169 was amended to termiante at Woodalnds Int, while 178 was amended to Marsiling Ter on 14 Dec 1980. [The reason behind it is due to the conversion of Bt panjang cirus to a signalised junction of Choa Chu Kang Rd, Woodlands Rd & Upp Bt Timah Rd -- NOTE Bt Panjang Rd doesnt exist at that time.]

Service 171 was also amended to terminate at Yishun interchange in the 1980s and it was the only SBS service to ply along Yishun all those while. In Nov 1995 service 171 finally went under Tibs control.

On 18 Jan 1987, SBS sevice 171 was made to termainte at the new Yishun Int. Previously it was used to be from Sembawang (Mandai Rd) to Queen St. At the same time, 854 also started on the same date itself.

852 - Yishun to Jurong via Bt Timah and Bt Batok (cutback to Bt Batok in 1996)
856 - Yishun to Woodlands via Admiralty and Senoko estate

Service 852 was relocated to Boon Lay in 1990 before cutback to Bt Batok in 1996 under the Woodlands MRT rationalisation. The service was initially planned to be withdrawn.

Service 856 was amended in 1996 under the Woodlands MRT rationalisation, the amendment was due to service 169 integration with service 857 (Yishun - Admiralty Rd West). Service 856 skipped Admiralty Rd East and instead plied Canberra Rd while service 169 skipped Canberra Rd and instead plied Admiralty Rd East, ie. they swapped routes in Sembawang area.

hehe.. i wasnt aware about it.. although the ST article still states that 901 will continue plying from old Woodlands Int on 4 feb 1996. Perhaps its a last minute change after suggestions were made by the residents abt 901 and thus a new svc 904 would serve the Woodlands - Woodladns Chekpt Ter and svc 901 would start from Woodlands reg Int.

I just want to point out the service 302 & 303 historry again..

When 302 was introduced in early 1994, this service started off as Choa Chu Kang to Choa Chu Kang St 52 Loop Service. When Choa Chua Kang St 52 was being joined up with Choa Chu Kang St 62, and North 6, the service was amended to loop at St 62 instead of St 52, which will also connects to the Yew Tee MRT.

As for 303, it started off as Choa Chu Kang to Choa Chua Kang Noth 5 loop service and on 29 Oct 1995, it was amended to loop at Choa Chu Kang St 62, with additional bus stops ereted along Choa Chu Kang North 6 and 303 serves the Yew Tee MRT together with 302.

302 eventually ended up looping @ CCK Cres.

147 was converted to FAC during that period, but if anyone can recall, some of Mercedes-Benz OF1417 (Hawke body) did 147 somewhere in 2000 for a few months before it was phased out. I remember bcos I took it a few times during my school days, one of it I remember clearly was SBS5555J.

There's also some other services which OF1417 did before phasing out, dun really recall the services.

In the past where w'lands was under KJ control, how many mercz perm did 856 receive?

Also in the past BN buses and HG are they interchangeable?
