are you sure that the driver did not exercise the due diligence necessary in that situation? it doesn't kill to go slow but what makes you think that he was going fast in the first place?

Even if he were stationary, if the beam swung through the upper deck, there's nothing the bus driver can do.

Of course, travelling at a slower speed will help, but how slow do you think it takes to be safe when something comes crashing at you? If everything can be ideally slow such that the outcome won't be so horrible, then I think we have the perfect remedy to reduce the chances of a collision: drive at snail's pace and stop immediately at any signs of danger.

So based on what our dear friend had mentioned, from now onwards, Buses must overtake stationary vehicles at least 1 car lane away. Also, they must drive at less than 10km/h and be prepared to stop anytime.

First, like to point out that i already say that the road's traffic is high. How to slow when you are already slow. 10Km/hr or 0km/hr? Anyone drive as caution to 10km/hr? Ask someone who drives a 5ton, they are already driving at max 50km/hr so slowing down for them is 20km/hr

How slow is slow? Maybe he was travelling at 25km/h and slowing down to 10km/h.... so shall we set a rule to limit it to 5km/h? But then, it doesn't kill to go at 1km/h too right? There's no ideal number for anyone to throw around.

I think you should drive a heavy vehicle 1st before realising can you brake as like a car or even gotta look out for height hazard (for tis case can't w/ blind spot).

I think you're still thinking buses can be speeding at 90km/hr.

The bus was entering tis road from Bedok North Ave 1 by a left turn (the one where you saw cars turning in from e news video). how fast can e bus go?

This is another case of someone who doesnt take the public transport.

He thinks that our VOs are equipped with a V12 engine with maybe 600hp.
Right after making a left turn, it can speed from 10 - 90km/h in less than 5sec.

gosh gosh. this is not a car mind you. its a class 4 vehicle. if you see a that type of lorry with a crane on the side of the road, you must be aware of the potential hazard that the lorry might do.

i agree. class 4 vehicles are not the same as driving a car.
i've driven things which are like 4.3m high and weighs 18 tonnes.

currently driving something which is even heavier and is 17metres long.
if you pay attention to only hazards and not potential hazards, then seriously, dont even think of driving something beyond class 3 vehicles. sheeesshh..

the problem is this crane is so tall and unlike a SAF tonner tat's so tall, the ADD driver seat is covered by e upper deck.

in any case SAF tonner has danger lurking (not going to mention anything).
