bus monopoly would also mean a drop in standards in bus services eventually...since there is no one to compete with....then our whole transport system would be screwed up....so much for "world class transport"

didn't SBS also improved bus svs over e yrs in its own areas. Even bef MRT came abt, they've went w/ double decks, OMTS, trial of aircon buses.

It's all dependent on e profile of e people who runs e organisation.

SBS did a survey back in e 1980s and they also concluded an all bus system is not going to work either, they're not going to be able to cope.

But honestly, is how resources are allocated to spread ppl onto a choice of buses or train.

Correct.Obviously an all bus transport system wldnt work also.There mus be an equal mixture between buses and trains in the system.

But look wats happening now.Its the total opposite.They r trying to use trains to outwit buses from the system.Seriously i also dunno wtf they have in their brains.lta shldnt have interfered and took over the system from sbst and smrt.They took over it,try be smart aleck and built too many train lines and now have destroyed a fair portion of the bus system alr.

Dun forget CCL tat side needs to take NUH/ NUS, Pasir Panjang load. CCL peak freq somemore can only maintain at 4 - 5 mins w/ no of rolling stocks

Also I've mentioned, they can't get e single trip ticket right resulting in massive queues of ppl purchasing and returning tickets at e same time by claiming it's too ex to upgrade, how come got budget to build MRT line ar?

we can't even get e basics right for current needs, not to say abt e future.

Yeah.At least if the train was 6-carriage,still ok la.U see even the EWL/NSL also cannot cope wit all the passengers,i seriously dunno how tis little 3-carriage trains gonna handle all the crowd daily.All thanks to the brainiac lta whos behind tis.

It is quite obvious that u condemning SMRTB. Till this day , don't you see an improvement ? SMRTB standard may not be better than SBST , but look at their MRT Lines . EW Line + NS Line + Circle Line vs NE Line ..SMRT earn big bucks , with the strong foundation of high demand for it's train . SMRT's 190 is earning alot of money , every 2 -5 mins , at least a 190 will come ! i doubt SBST beat the fast frequency . Both companies have their good and bad .

I still see ppl fuming w/ overloaded Sv 966 during PM peak. but wat's e freq? 15 mins? somemore running time given from CJC to Bt Panjang Rd/ Blk 270 is only given 15 mins, even at 70kph needs 18 mins. Yet for RWS8, short journey can be given 34 mins to travel. Tat day e bus I was onboard travelled at 30kph at e bridge en-route Vivo. Maybe because more profitable so put in heart and soul on it. isn't it double standard? our own ppl can't even be given reasonable sv on basic svs.

It's always all these small details tat makes whether is do or break.

The reason why CCL has only 3 cars is due to the length of the station. Due to limited land space, shorter stations are needed...

First of all, let me make myself clear that I'm not siding with any transport operator or siding with either modes of transport.

The main reason for the CCL as reported is to link commuters without passing through the city. For example, next time, we can easily take CCL to Paya Lebar from Bishan without taking the NSL transfer to EWL.

in e first place, basics can't be met and now there's double standard. Esp when things starts to have double standard, we're doomed. Merging SBST and SMB wont happen. Alot of conflict to resolve and the government doesnt want a monopoly.

Competition in singapore is controlled and almost never for what it is intended to be.

In singapore, competition leads to lower quality and higher prices.

Like the recent Singtel and Starhub hoo ha, it gives the illusion that 2 or 3 companies are competing to offer better products at lower prices when in fact they are not.

Like what i've emphasized before,Give it a rest.We just wait and see how long they can go like this.Thats show that the woman doesnt have any experience in transport sector at all.I understand your feeling and yes i too was so dissapointed they deploy the OCs for the RWS service which i think should let the private operators the chance.If i'm the CFO or CEO,First thing shift Kranji to a new depot ie at CCK or Bt Batok Ind estate and AMK to a new 3 storey depot and buy more buses for fleet addition and new service for Sembawang area.
