actually saw it ytd doing TRG at around 4.05pm when i passed by HGDEP on 2767J...though my bus was at about 70...

81S was also a demo converted into a training bus

Yes, SBS 2888T has been assign as a training bus, some 2 months back. Maintenance support is still undertaken at Bedok North Workshop, at the moment. Bus fans who are keen to take pictures, you may write in to SBSTransit; Corporate Communication Dept.

HGDEP in fact had taken out several Volvo MK3 fleets from services like 100, 109, 147, 156, 159, 163 etc. Some of which became perm TRG. HGDEP also took some MK3s from BNDEP as well to put it on TRG.

Mainly some Batch 1s became perm TRG too, sometimes Euro 5 will also do TRG. Purpose is to let the drivers familise with such buses before K230UBs can be introduced to certain bus services.

K230UBs will be used for training for the forseeable future as they are the model that SBST are introducing in large numbers. if your new BC doesnt know how to drive a K230UB and your fleet largely consists of K230s.. then how?

What I know about SBST is that the perm buses are allocated at the same duty slot at a given schedule, the BCs rotate duties and drive different buses every week. Which means if the BCs are driving the bus route that has perm K230UBs all the BCs for that bus route got to be familiarised with such buses. There's possibilities that BCs will be scheduled to drive a K230UB for that particular week. If the BC hapen to be unfamiliarised......

Unlike SMRT's practice whereby the BCs rotate duties together with the same bus which they are driving every week.

This is not true.

In SBST, even though the BCs rotate their duties every other week, the buses go over with them too.

Hi sbs7207b,

Regret to inform that SBS 2888T is being use for training within the training centre in Hougang Depot. At the moment, she will not be driving outside. Hence, if you want to catch the glimpse of the bus, is only when she return to Bedok North Depot for planned maintenance. Her next schedule check will be sometime in mid Oct.

By the way, SBS 2888T is the one and only model out of the 3000 buses in SBS.

If you're lucky, you might be able to see it inside HGDEP from Hougang avenue 3. I saw it several days ago that way.
