Yes you are correct , it is 222 perm , 291 doesn't have ADD perm currently , use to have 2 but i think now went to Service 19.

DD on feeder are quite useless.. take a few stops also want to go upstairs then come down again?

especially so for 354 284 etc..

at least 285 is the practical one..

and yeah, 511 used to have 50% DD in its heyday

but at least a trident/LO3X on 502 is still reasonably fast compared to VO3X.

Full load DD on 518 , imagine the poor bus climbing up the steep slope ? I dont think it can do it. Even if it can, what if there is a jam and the bus has to stop half way up the slope ?

You see how the 179 BCs do it... Laughing If full load, they will step on the accelerator for a while before releasing the handbrake.
If they release handbrake first then step accelerator, bus will roll back! Shocked

2 factors :

First factor

VO 3 axles and VSO is not as powerful as LO. I believe the LO can do it.

2nd factor :

It's always jam especially peak hours , what if the DD bus brakes down (can't repair on the spot) ?I feel for the tow truck towing the bus up the steep slope. Unlike NUS, the traffic is heavy and there is no room for mistakes. If the bus do roll back, chances of hitting the vehicle is high. Very risky if you ask me.

Service 90 used to have NAC DDs (LO2x) to cater for the peak hour crowd. However DDs were withdrawn and replaced by NAC Scania CRBs when the LO2x were phased out in 2003.

In fact services 90/94 should use LO3x during peak hours on weekdays Rolling Eyes

I remembered sitting on the LAs on service 105 way back in 1991. The LAs on service 105 were replaced by SD NAC MB0405s in 1992 when the route was diverted to Lorong Chuan.

If the real reason is to cater for the crowd on sv 90 I suppose tat SBST had looked into the matter n consider deploying LO3x instead of those crappy NAC SD Scanias on sv 90 Rolling Eyes

SBST deploy NAC LO2x on sv 90, intention in fact is to dump any NAC buses (NACs available from BLBP) there instead of using DDs to cater for the crowd. Now tat the LO2x are gone, all those remaining NAC SD Scanias (from BLBP) were all dumped there instead of upgrading it to LO3x Twisted Evil

139 used to have LA... (Some services like 135 also used to have LA. But after the LA was gone, these services became SD...)

There was a time (long ago) when I passed by the Bedok Int office and saw a notice indicating roads unfit for DDs. If I remember correctly, the notice included Changi Airport, Stadium Rd (the part under Nicoll Highway), Lor Chuan (the part under Bradell Flyover), Hendeson Rd (btw Telok Blangah Rd & Depot Rd), Siglap Rd, Frankel Ave, South Buona Vista Rd, etc. For some roads, the reason is obvious (low bridge, steep slope, etc). But for some roads like Hendeson Rd & Frankel Ave, the reason is low trees. (Actually the trees can be cropped to make way for DD, right?)

32 doesnt have DDs. Can explain to me why? If 5 could use DDs even when turining into the narrow Margaret Drive road when it was under SBS, why cant 32 use DDs now?
