DD isn't ever very easy to drive, extra training needed even after having a Class 4A. but rigid mercedes buses still the easiest to drive... sterring is really soft and easy, due to the huge diameter of the steering wheel.

i guess even the O305 had power steering compared to leyland olympians? Laughing

i havent ever forgotten how pissed a BB drvier was during the IMF period...

for being assigned a 9175 on svc 99. was standing at the front and could hear his rant of how heavy the steering was and how slow the bus was accelerating. -.-

btw, not sure if wikipedia's claim of power steering on LAs [AN68 type, in sg] is true though. even though LAs are older than LOs.

During IMF period, got 1 198 driver, maybe he first time drive LO3x, he take advantage and chiong all the way... Everywhere he also floor the accelerator...

There's power steering on LO 3 axles... but it's very obvious it's still not enough... I really salute female LO drivers....

It actually depends though.

Example :
- HGDep drivers would say Volvo
- AM/SL drivers would say Merdz
- Some BNDep drivers would opt for Scania

So, itz hard to determine which bus is the easiest to drive though.

LO 3 axles is definately a challenge to drive. Imagine full load (most of the journey) and you are driving a route like svc 30 or 51. You can see how happy the B9TL drivers (SLdepot) . I got to talk to a driver briefly, he told me that after driving the B9TL , he wished he didn't have to drive LO 3 axles again.

and maybe he made a turn that was too fast and sharp for your comfort.

well, the most challenging place for LO3X drivers to turn is at the T-junction between bukit batok road and bukit batok east ave. 3. cfm that those LO3X on 157/174 would have to go slow abit, then turn 1.25 rounds to the right like siao.

I'm not sure about the technical details, but in layman terms, my "not enough" means there are insufficient electronic assistance to make the steering feel "light" enough. Just try to steer a stationary car with and without power steering, you will know what I mean.

LOL... I recently had this experience on a 179 standby BC... I nvr see him before on any BNL svc. So must be new BC. I think he don't dare to take the turns at speed, especially the sharp NTU ones, so he step accelerator up to 2nd gear, release, step again, release...

The highest he got was just nice the 3rd gear, along Pioneer Rd Nth, under the PIE bridge heading into NTU. Once the bus finally change to 3rd gear, he brake for the sharp NTU entrance left turn! Laughing
