i have set up this topic as when i observed during my bus trips BCs of same svc but travelling in oppsite directions at certain point of the route would wave or gesture to each other as sign of greeting…but sometimes in situation whereby the two BCs concerned are from different depot they would not greet…..and needless to say BCs from same company but completely different svcs or depot would not greet each other of cos….cos i see this pattern interesting therefore i posted this one up. any similar situation u guys encountered. another thing have u seen a eg. SMRT bc on SBS bus b4 or vice versa?

Yup, I've also encountered the same situation like the one you've mentioned whereby BCs of same svc but travelling in oppsite directions at certain point of the route would wave or gesture to each other as sign of greeting. Another point I would like to add is that some BCs might even horn to attact the attention of the BC of the same svc in the opposite directions just to wave.

For your question regarding if i've seen a eg. SMRT bc on SBS bus b4 or vice versa? I don't actually quite get what you mean, is it you trying to say an SMRT BC onboard a SBS Bus on his/her way home or is it an SMRT BC driving a SBS Bus?

SBS and SMRT bus so many bc. You can’t expect them from same company to know each other. SMRT Co Ltd total staff around 5000.

i noe...but this one gives me the kind of feeling where say soldiers from two warring country greet each other where as smrtb and sbst bcs are soldiers from both camps....a good example would be in ww2 where american soldiers have meet up with soviet soldiers after divding nazi germany into two....not only the soldiers from the two ideologically different country did not shy away from each other they went as far as went partying together during the night....feel so delightful....how nice it would be if everytihing would be one entity.... Seen alot of it many times, especially on 176, whereby when a bus turns out from a junction, many of the BCs waved to each other, one time when hillview there got truck accident and stuck, then got traffic jam, the opposite BC even communicated with our BC using sign language saying the traffic block is bad. Shocked

Yeah, i realise the BCs of lets say, 67 wave to another BC they know from the same depot. (A driver from KJDEP might not wave to a AMDEP driver).

I have noticed SBST drivers riding on SMRT buses and likewise to go home and when the drivers board the bus, the driver smiles and says hello. It's actually quite nice. Smile

Actually, just now when I took SBS2645C (ARBP 132) the BC and the BC of SBS2995S (SLBP 143) did hand signals to each other!

And I have seen two SMRT BCs on an MK3 talking to the SBST BC at Bukit Merah Int Shocked . All the other BC were looking at them Laughing

yeah so heartening to hear that among the bus driving industry despite the tough environment they are in (the mental stress, not to forget physical of course) there's sorta sense of camaraide/bond going around between them....yeah...time to put my personal input oso.....often saw 63 BCs travelling opposite directions waving at each other merc to merc bus....for merc to strider bus hmm....very seldom...maybe cos they different depot bar..... Rolling Eyes like what others said....i always take notice when opposite bus of same service pass by....

conclusion : same svc same depot comfirm greet
same svc but different depot 50-50
different svc but same depot comfirm also greet(eg. a svc 32 BC
wave at a 33 BC regardless they travelling opposite or parallel)
different depot , different svc...obviosly right Laughing

for point hightlighted in red...hmmm..maybe the both side BCs are from AMDEP? Rolling Eyes cos there are sbs and smrt depots collectively at AMDEP what..

hmmm...i also wonder ..let's say an sbs bc travelling on smrt bus for free on account of their very same line...but anyway...is there any guidelines on sbs personnel travelling on smrt and smrtb and vice versa?? Rolling Eyes

I had seen this countless times before. BC can be waving to another BC on the same service or BC could be waving with another BC on another service.

So for example, if you are a BC on a service 80, you may probably see your friend on service 87 and you wave to him. Some BC's open their windows and speak in dialect.

I have seen one Svc 67 Habit that caught up to a Svc 67 Hispano. At the traffic light, the Habit took the 2nd lane and the Hispano took the bus lane. The Habit BC opened the front door and the Hispano BC open the window and start talking Laughing

Same thing happened this afternoon. A Svc 174 SD caught up to Svc 174 DD at the junction where Jurong Point is. SD BC was going straight and the DD BC is turning. The SD BC is gesturing to the DD BC to go straight, following Svc 30/154 cuz late. Gd thing gesturing, and not opening front door/window. Razz
