My vote goes to SMRT, u can never find another driver who can cut his nails while driving on 852 along lentor ave.

However, I feel that SMRT focuses a lot of train services rather than bus services while SBST focuses more on bus services. Besides, Sembawang is a SMRT dominated area, unless SBST extends svc 39 or 85. In addition, CCK faces a similar problem. There is no SBST svc to CCK interchange. So I feel that in order to attract more commuters to buy season pass, I suggest SBST make some changes to allow its bus services to go to CCK interchange.

Yup! Can say so! The condition of the buses of SMRT are like shit, whereas the trains are in tip-top condition. Air-con blow like as if electricity is free. Laughing . I couldn't even find a vandalism, not even a scratch! The reason why SMRT concentrate more on train services is simple, there are more ridership on trains than on buses, so concentrating more on train services is more profitable. I somehow think that all train services like the NEL , CCL and future MRT lines should be awarded to SMRT whereas SBSTransit should control all bus services, of course i hope SBSTransit will buy bendy buses and DDs in equal numbers. You have to understand that service amendment is one thing, getting the proposal to be accepted is another. If there's no rulings from PTC, you can see SBS and SMRT services all over the place.

There were instances in which proposals were rejected due to the "infringement" of PTC ruling as well as objection from rival company.

If I am not wrong, at times, 859 and 962 can be rather packed with ppl since it provides the access in the areas of sembawang estate which are quite far away from the MRT or the interchange. However, I agree with you for the 167 and 980 point. It is like svc 25 and 55 (from AMK Avenue 3 to Eunos MRT) or it also can be svc 25 and 854 (from HGN ave 2 to Bedok).

And 85 & 111 might have been merged. Currently, NE corridor has no bus links with Centrepoint.

i prefer SBST. SBST may look "cheap" coz of their NAC buses , but dont forget , they have new CNG buses and WAB buses. Their buses were bought and launched newly. Not like SMRT , nowadays tey use those rebranded Nissans cant they buy more new buses , if they like Nissan Buses , ten go & buy the newest Nissans. SBST dont have any/use rebranded buses.

2nd: SBST has better freq compared to SMRT , i took 161 before and it is always on time other svcs oso. So far , those SBST buses which i took is punctual , not like SMRT's erratic svcs like 187 , 188 , 307 wich as lousy freq.

even now there are SBST services dominated in SMRT services like Yishun’s 39 & 85 , Woodland’s 161 & 168 , i hope that i can see a SBST service in CCK interchange , maybe from CCK to either Hougang , Sengkang or Punggol , it wil be the best to introduce a service like 161 & 168 which takes long express , hope that SBST introduce a service from CCK to Pasir Ris via Bt Panjang , BKE and if possible serve W’lands before going to SLE to Pasir Ris.

Hmm , why not use less express sector , so that there is a demand for this particular service , if use too much express sector , then i don't tink the demand will be quite good.

Quite a good idea , suggest that this new service from CCK to Pasir Ris will serve CCK WAY , Bt Panjang Plaza , then Petir Rd then follow 960 / 963's route aft Bt Panjang Plaza then head for BKE then W'lands Ave 3 & 2 then SLE , Jln Kayu then go to Pasir Ris via Downtown east. tis will serve convienience to residents in Bt Panjang

Good idea, BUT there is one of PTC's rules:

Services that intend to serve into rival co's territory need to fulfil 2 criteria:
1. Serve 2 of their own territories first. (E.g. SBST svc service Bedok and Tampines first.)
2. Take the MOST DIRECT ROUTE into the rival co's territory. (969, that one super-direct.)

Case studies for you: 39, 161, 168, 858, 965, 969.

Exceptions: 854, NW-NE swap svcs that turned SMRT, 966.

But if SUPER DIRECT the bus will be a low demand. They can try putting 2 svcs , one is this one above , the other one is a new svc to tampines from cck via Toh Guan Rd PIE , then serve Bedok and finally Tampines.

Hmmm.... SMRT bus services may not be very fast. Yesterday took 700A at night and the bus was lyk zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, super slow!!! Evil or Very Mad Me is rather impatient yea. Took 45 min to reach home at BP from Orchard, instead of around 25-30 mins! But usually during the morning and the afternoon, most SMRT BCs drive at reasonable speeds, sometimes too fast Mr. Green Yesterday took TIB978L (O405G MKII) to Harbourfront. The bus was lyk dragging its gear; vrooooooooooommmmm diaoz vroooooooooooooooommmmmmmm then last gear.

Don't know who set up all these rules...I think it stupid, as long as it serves the residents well, do we really need to have these hassles.

These PTC do so many things obstruct the bus companies for doing new routes, and never bother much to reduce fare. Evil or Very Mad

I have seen someone written to Today's Voices which is similar to the suggested route! and even suggested to LTA to consider putting up a bus stop between lornie and steven road, to facilitate the transfer of services. Still waiting for the reply from the revelant authorities!

PTC is really a nuisance. But according to the many years ago reply from SBST, that in order to infiltrate SMRT's territories, it needs to seek the support and approval of SMRT! Which I have suggested to have day bus service similar from 181 Mid Nite service (181M). And SBST reply is that this service duplicate heavy with 190,700,960. Therefore is unlikely to get the approval from the authorities (PTC and SMRT)!
