CAIX SG Yes, I think the last 0305 serving on 165 is somewhere on 1999 before it was withdrawn. And mostly, or all single deck fleets are scanias. The DD fleet consist of mainly LO2x .
The_Bus_Guide SG That is the gear selector. It had 2 slots, one for Drive and one for Reverse. There are Atlanteans in other parts of the world which had a semi-automatic gearbox but I believe that all of SBS's Atlanteans were fully automatic. The Fleetline is another first generation rear-engined double decker chassis. Originally produced by Daimler, it was a rival to the Atlantean. But the rivalry ended when Daimler was absorbed by the Leyland corporation.
iveco SG Does anyone remember the Bedford school buses from the '80s and early '90s? Many of them had Merc badges. Any idea why? Also, could someone share whatever he knows about Bedford motors?
The_Bus_Guide SG Hmm...Good question. I was lucky enough to stumble upon what I believe was a Bedford SB5 while taking a walk around Malacca Town. It too had a Mercedes badge. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with Mercedes. Maybe the buses' owner thought it looks cool. The Bedford SB is a front-engined, front axle chassis designed specifically for bus use. It has a drop frame chassis to enable a reasonable low floor height. The SB was introduced in 1951-52 and fitted with a petrol engine. It was not until the 1960s that the diesel engined version, the SB5 became more popular. The engine is Bedford's own (5420 cc) with manual clutch and transmission.
iveco SG Hmm, I also seem to remember that the SB also had Merc steering wheels. Anyone can verify this?
SBS9226H SG It is not only 357. I guess you've seen only photos of MK3 on 357. In fact, all BN townlinks uses MK3s. But now 222 doesn't use them anymore (exception for cameos). Mercz used to be in BN too. I've seen them on BN feeders like 225 etc. Scanias are majority in the feeders fleet.
iveco SG Mercs used to dominate 350 in 1995/96. Other feeders used Scanias. Later those Mercs went over to 354.
105090 SG its interesting to note that, more than 95% of scanias (OAC, CAC) are in Bedok Depot, and half of NAC are from Bedok as well.. amazing!
sbst275 SG AMDEP as well, Sv 125, 186 nia For BNDEP, practically only Sv 6, 35, 37, 293, 358, 359, 403 uses NAC CRBs
Airbus330Captain SG I don't think its 95% , its around 80% . Don't forget that AMK and braddel has a number of scanias buses as well . Bndepot are left with very few NAC scanias , most of the nac scanias are based in AMK/Braddel depot.
sBs_boy SG Ermmm.. nope.. nt yr2000... yr2000 is the birth of 970.. it was w/d before yr2000.. somewhere between 97-99...
105090 SG the great BP/ CCK overhaul of bus services.. does anyone has a copy of the flyer which TIBS used to distrbute to households then? (those blue and white gigantic flyer)
105090 SG Most NAC scanias are used for Training Buses.. no wonder.. still, its difficult to get a long ride on NAC scanias.. the longest possible route is sv35 or sv90 or 186.. cant enjoy maximally..
Airbus330Captain SG Don't be surprised to see NAC scania buses deploy on main trunk services like svc 30 or any other bndepot svcs . If that happens, that is a sign that the buses are going off the roads soon.
