Can SBS use double deck or long bus during peak hour?

Remember back in the 1980's , An LA (Alexander L) on 196 kanna crash at the National Stadium bridge because the BC went wrong way.

The BC used to be a svc 16 driver but drove svc 196 on that day & he was still unfimilarised with svc 196 route so he turned the DD into Stadium Rd as svc 16 route instead of Nicoll Highway & crashed into the Overhead Height Restrction Stand bef the flyover then... Cool

The rpt & pics came out in TNP. Cool
The pics showed the top of bus was sracpped off from the bus & landed aft the DD aft the bus hit the Overhead Height Restrction Stand & whole upp deck was exposed.

This really brings some problems right? First you can't put a route there which uses Double Deckers, and second, the road's way too narrow. Too bad we can't do anything about it yet

I always end up being squashed. Usually SBS 1959 D is the one hit because it goes back to CLE on its route (After loop) at around 7.30am. SBS 1925 B, apparently taking SBS2762Y's place is badly hit during evening peak.

Hm look like the bridges in singapore is causing problem DD deployment. I think there are two solutions to solve this long term problem.

The solution are:

1) LTA or government standardize all the bridges' height to 4.5m

2) The SBS use bus models which have a shorter height for the affected routes Very Happy

I believe bus models can be adjusted to meet the specification of lower height. Buses are manufactured by man. Man can decides the height of it. Anyone know DD models in the world that is 4.3m n below?

I think long bus can solve the problem, but i know long bus is creating parking problems for SBS bus Terminal. Look at tip bus, they have alot of long buses in singapore.

More SDs deploy? Have you taken a crowded bus and seen a emptied same number bus behind or over took the bus u were taking? ( commuters don't know and squeeze themselves to whatever that is coming)

and can u tink deeper... Yes man and decide the OVERALL HEIGHT of the bus, HOWEVER, THE HEIGHT OF EACH DECK WILL BE COMPROMISED...WHICH WILL CAUSED GREAT INCONVIENCE....AFAIK, there are VERY LITTLE or even NONE DD lower de 4.3m...

SBST terminus or interchange have no problem with bendy buses. Bendy buses are not very stable and thus may not be very convient oso...

den the 3rd point is jus due to poor sechduling
