So why not pull 167 into WDL and replace by a feeder bus when the new SBW int opens? This so for WDL<>ORC connection.

Service 700 used to provide Woodlands residents with a direct link to Orchard Rd. Unfortunately, it was shortened to Bt Panjang.

Before March 1996, Woodlands had services 182 and 952 to Orchard Rd.

I heard that this was to make it compete with 190 from CCK which was still with SBST then. Can't confirm that. Was TIBS already under SMRT then?

What happened to them? Where they withdrawn because of the extended Woodlands MRT line?

700 was shortened to BPJ during the LRT rationalisation. By then, CCK was already under Tibs control. The merger with SMRT was not complete until 2001 and the rebranding exercise took place only last year.

Service 700 was already passing thru Bt Panjang before it was shortened, which took place in 1999.

giving SBST 8/10 for the initiative to put down route timetables for svc 200 is a bit weird considering that they HAVE to do it especially since they increased the frequency offpeak from 20+ mins to 33 mins.

you really think the route timetables by SBST are accurate most of the time? Case in point, SBST Express 518. Go wait at any bus stop in Pasir Ris and Tampines during offpeak hours. The bus never arrives on time or worse, never even arrives at all!

the svc 518 timetable on the internet tally with the arrival of buses @ the bus stops? If nope, then the online timetable is damn shed & useless.

I think that it should ply on lorong 1 because only service 231 plies the whole stretch of lorong 1 and just recently, there is service 57 that plies on the whole stretch of lorong 6.

Svc 48 is impossible to be controlled by both ang mo kio & hougang cos the nearest depot to punggol & upp east coast is @ hougang.

Svc 52 i guess will be controlled by both soon lee & ang mo kio.

Svc 59 i guess controlled by ang mo kio only OR both ang mo kio & bedok north.

Can anyone tell me why service 700 is shortened to Bukit Panjang? It is like overlapping service 190 for about half of the routes.

All the points i have stated are facts, not wild accusations.
Kindly enlighten me which one is an accusation.
And i am not degrading SMRT, but just stating the facts.
No people complained in SMRT territories?
How do you know about it? Is that a fact or an normative statement?

According to PTC's Annual Report 1999/2000, TIBS RapidBus 700 was cutback to Bukit Panjang Int as the svc was poorly used between Woodlands and Bt Panjang. Svc 700 is a pilot service.

Is to supplement the overcrowding 190.
If given the chance, SMRT will definitely withdraw it, as you have mentioned, it duplicate heavily with 190. Just my view.

those living along the whole stretch of tampines ave 2 (junction of ave 1/5 until st31) benefits a lot cos they have 34,39,59 in addition to 8,17,18,28,518,292. Then @ ave 9 (junction of ave 7 until st41) no new svcs except amendment of svc 28 & 29. Haiz …...

SBS Transit really makes many changes recently over the past year. Six new services are introduced namely (34, 39, 57, 58, 43, 59, 52) and maybe even more.

b4 the launch of the 3 new svc, sbs transit currently have estimated 150 spare buses. So aft the launch next wk, it will be left with abt 120 buses (imagine each svc needs 10buses).

extra info:
Svc 52 & 59 will have 30+ fare stages for both direction.
For svc 59 @ opp safra tampines fare stage already 20+.
Svc 43 will have 20+ fare stages for both direction.

As far as I know, they duplicate at BP, along BKE and AYE (not relevent), Whitley Road, Scotts Road and Orchard Road. One travels along Bukit Timah Road while the other travels along Stevens Road.

I agree with you. By the way, just wondering why service 700 is called "Rapidbus" when I thought it is just like bus 190 a normal trunk service?
