I think the current 36 route is very good enough. Otherwise possible, extend it to bukit merah int.

Last year, I suggested that 36 be extended to BMR via 123 route and the latter be amended to operate from STM via Balestier Rd, Lvender St, Beach Rd, Stamford Rd, Penang Rd and normal route thereafter.

Alternatively, 36 can provide cover for former 865 sector or be merged with 111.

Ah, have u taken sv36 before? if u did, u would not have put up tt suggestion. Do u noe tt sv36 is a v v impt route for residents along MArine Parade Rd to get to their wk place in Suntec, MArina & Orchard Area? Ev mornin, it'a alomost packed to the brim, it goes the same as in the evening! Y should sv36 be shorten then? it's a cash cow for SBST, on weekends try gettin on board one! PLease do not suggest to shorten any sv juz because u tink it's LONG! SBST has their reason for maintaining sv36 the way it is. In addition , sv36 is smethin like sv390. If u dun noe where sv390 goes, read the archives. Get a better picture 1st before putting a THREAD!

sv11 is meant to bring residents to National Stadium from Kallang MRT. if u din noe, there's CSS608 from Bedok Int[except they dun operate on Sun & PHs] In addition if u wan to get to Stadium from Bedok, there's MRT, sv14,sv31,sv196, u juz nd to walk! sv11 is not a waste of Manpower coz commuters still utilise it! if it's not profitable, sv11 would have been withdrawn long time ago! Confused

To be truthful, 36 isn't a morning and evening peak bus service. It's an all-day peak service.

Breakdown of age groups:
1) Morning - Working group going work
2) Mid morning to noon - Aunties who want to go Suntec/Orchard? Razz
3) Noon - Evening - Students who want to go Suntec/Orchard
4) Evening - Working group going home/Marine Parade people going town
5) Night - Everyone.

In fact, I agree with the threadstarter that 36 can, in fact, be shortened 'coz the main bulk of the people come from Marine Parade and not the airport but to where?
1) Marine Parade? Then the service is going to be an infinite loop (if you know programming, you'll know what I mean)
2) Bedok? Unlikely. Already shortage of parking space already.
3) Tampines? Pasir Ris? Changi Village?

On the other hand, I totally agree with tranquilice's proposed extension of 36 to Harbourfront (think we came up with the same idea at different times before) but with the introduction of 408, is there going to still be berths for 36?

Yes, HarbourFront still has ample parking space. Sv 408 only has one berth at HBF Int.

If u notice properly how many peeps actually take 36 from the airport to the city? less than 30% of the pax from the airport.

S36 and S11? u got to be kidding. both services have different demand patterns to cater to the different needs of the peeps who patronage the service.

i dont mind extending it to habourfront... but via Tanglin rd and henderson rd :p

Service 11 always no passenger on board. EMPTY BUS ! What for to have this service. People can walk outside to take other bus service to Kallang MRT.
By the way there are service 16 and CSS608 already.It should be ample.

Should let Service 36 end at some bus terminal or interchange. How about ending at Ghim Moh bus terminal or Buona Vista bus terminal. What for loop at Tomlinson Road ? If the service 36 ends at bus terminal or interchanges, the bus service will be more frequent ( no need to wait so long which benefits the passengers). Mr. Green

No! 36 should extend to HBF via ex-85 route - Paterson Road, Zion Road and so on. Should avoid Mal's suggestion at all costs. Very Happy

Please use ample evidence to prove this statement. I don't see an increase in frequency for 26 (it starts at Toa Payoh and ends at Bedok, both are interchanges, isn't it?).

Yeah, of course there is. But my point in contention is that 26 terminates at 2 interchanges but is there an increase in frequency? So, please kindly explain your statement about if 36 ends at a terminal/interchange, there will be an increase in frequency 'coz that's what I don't understand.

i mean if the bus stucks in a traffic jam. The loop service will suffer as many passengers down the road are waiting for the jam bus. If starts from terminal another bus can be deployed.
