Bus Diversion Plan for NE Show, NDP Preview & NDP Actual

NE Show: Saturday 17 July
NDP Preview: Saturday 31 July

Bus 39 will stopped at the Jalan Kayu bus stops from 25th July 2004 onwards. Great news for me , I have a direct bus from my home to camp !! My consolation as bus 168 service always made me filled with anger with its waiting time and super crowded single deck buses at the wrong time.

service_238 SG

no great news for me!! Evil or Very Mad my mk5 cannot chiong already... Sad

hmm today 21st... ok 4 more days to feel the full excitement on the TPE liaoz.. Wink

By the way, SBS 2831 G (service 39) seems perm on service 36 (or is it perm already?). I saw the bus on Monday afternoon along Tanjong Katong Rd South, doing trip of service 36.

leeJZ SG

2831 left 39 a long time ago, went for a few sorties on 15 then settled on 36.

39 calling at Jln Kayu not much ah, just adds a few minutes in travel time.

btw look out for 39 VCs! Mr. Green

What is VC?

sbs&tibs SG

It is the new version of SBST guide.
I mean the red and purple one. We call it Vanilla Coke guide because of the pattern on the first page.

What's the point, already got 168-tampines/858-yishun
Then why dun sbst make 161 stop there .

leeJZ SG

The link is primarily to boost the loads of 39 (still not as good as 969) by competing with 858 (Yishun - Jln Kayu) and establishing a new link between Pasir Ris & Jln Kayu.

There is no point making 161 stopping there because already got alternatives (Sengkang - 86 / Woodlands - 16 Cool .

tranquilice SG

Service 858 should skip Jln Kayu and instead let service 969 plys into Jln Kayu, to compete with service 168 to Tampines.

Info is now up on the net: http://www.sbstransit.com.sg/whatsnew_25july2004.asp

^tamago^ SG

no. there needs to be a link from jln kayu area to changi airport so passengers from ang mo kio, yio chu kang/seletar, woodlands (via 168 ) going to airport can have a quick transfer to svc 858 instead of changing at khatib, which will increase the already long journey time of about 50mins (with transfer time) by another 15mins. tis is because tis method is still better than taking svc 24 or MRT from ang mo kio, as testified here by me who lives in amk, near yck mrt area.

leeJZ SG

Yes, plus Jln Kayu services do not duplicate each other (except 39/85 Cool , as it serves mainly as a transfer stop.

39 : Pasir Ris / Yishun
86 : Sengkang / Ang Mo Kio
103 : Serangoon / Yio Chu Kang Rd
168 : Tampines / Woodlands
858 : Yishun / Changi Airport

I agree with your point of fast transfer to and from Woodlands via service 168. But as for to and from Ang Mo Kio, in my opinion, it is faster to take services 851, 852 and 853 to Khatib station than service 86 to Jln Kayu, due to the Lentor Ave stretch.

bus911 SG

This should be placed at the
topic but i put it here because it relates to 39Which is faster to pasir ris from woodlands?

161 then transfer 88/89

or
168 then transfer 39.

is the walking dist. from 39 busstop near pasirris(whitesand/MRT/INT)?
