Tebans Gardens may be a small estate and located at one western tip of Singapore. In terms of location, Tebans is pretty more isolated than Yew Tee.

Fortunately, Tebans had more bus services than Yew Tee. Tebans residents had services to Chinatown and Orchard.

Why won't SBST simply provide Tebans residents with just a feeder service to Jurong East?

Despite a small estate, SbST still take effort in improving the bus services there.

And SMRT? What have they done so far for Yew Tee?

Beside Yew Tee, Bukit Gombak is another case. Only one bus service (945) served the MRT station. Those living near the MRT station have to walk a long way to take services 187, 188, 985.

Bukit Gombak isn't that bad. They still have bus services AND mrt. Furthermore, they are quite near to bukit batok which also has sbs transit services, unlike yew tee, only 1 feeder bus

Well as earlier ppl said alreadi..BB transport system was devloped by SBS in the early days liaoz ma..AFAIK tibs only introduced 3 services in BB..1 is 77, (970 and 963 partial serving BB and Hillview) and sv852 which was cut back and changing the route of 189

in fact i recalled that it was because they change the route of 189 then there were many complains since 189 and 106 linked BB to clementi and very often 106 was unable to cope with the load to the extent that ppl wrote in to forum to complain.. Wink

...the rest of the services were already present when tibs took over..
or they mad cosmeic changes..like renaming 365 to 945 blah blah..dont know for what other reason than to drive up costs..

77 was formerly SBS. Originally a loop service form Marina Ctr to Farrer Rd and subsequently extended to BBT via 6th Ave.

I don't understand. Confused Service 189 is plying Clementi all along. Which part of the route change of this service are you referring to?

Service 77 never ply along Farrer Road.
TIBS took over form sbsT with no or little cosmetic change.

Regarding 189, again inaccurate info. the sv was changed during sbs time alreadi. it used to follow the 106 route to clementi. I think they change the route coz it was duplicating resources...but in the end 106 didnt hv enough capacity anyway, esp with the withdrawel of the leyland Atleanteans and replace with the merc0405.

But i not really sure of the 189 route coz i think it has changed many times alreadi..confused.. Rolling Eyes

Service 77 was introduced by SBS in 1995 as a loop service operating between Marina Centre terminal and Farrer Rd.

The service was extended to Bt Batok in 1996. To remove partial duplication with service 174, it skipped Farrer Rd and ply Sixth Ave instead.

Handed over to Tibs in June 2000, together with services 189 and the 3 Bt Batok feeders.

Service 106 under SBS have enough capacity since LA and LO3x were deployed. After it was handed to Tibs in December 2000, bendies were immediately deployed on the service.

Service 189 originally ply between Bt Batok and Marina Centre (not sure of any previous route).

In 1990, integrate with service 366 (Bt Batok - BBDEP) and shortened to loop at Clementi West St 2.

In 1995, skipped Clementi West St 2 and extended to West Coast Ferry Terminal.

In 1996, skipped Toh Tuck Ave and amended to ply Clementi Ave 6.

Handed to Tibs in June 2000.

In August 2001, amended to Kent Ridge terminal. Introduced service 189A to Harbour Dr (Pasir Panjang Ferry Terminal).

In May 2003, service 189A was withdrawn.

I think the merger with 366 happened in mid-1991. I was still taking this bus to MRC from my house in the early part of that year. It followed Svc 75 route from MRC to Cantonment Rd, 196 route from Neil Rd to Jln Bt Merah, then Lower Delta Rd, Alexandra Rd, C'wealth Ave, and 106 route to BBT Int. Svc 5 was later ordered to cover the Jln Bt Merah-Alexandra Rd sector in 1992, resulting in it calling at People's Park.

That was incorrect, when they had LA and LO3X, capacity was sufficient but when it became a fully air-con fleet, the LA were replaced with merc 0405..tt was when they had problems of insufficient capacity. i remember coz the only place you must board is at the interchange if not, just 2 or 3 bus stops down the road..u wont even be assured of a place to stand..

106 had OAC Merc O405 from the day it became a PAC service. It happened on the same day as 132 & 166.

yup..i know that..but at that time.there were still LA so still alrite..when the LA were withdrawn and replaced with more 0405.the problem appeared. Cos when the LA were around, OAC merc 0405 only had a few.

Uncle.. LO3x and VO3x (95/6xx series) DID appeared on 106....

The LO3Xes had been around on 106 since the days of the LAs. Towards the last days of BBT's association with SBS, 9628 served briefly on this route.

By the way, I'm still wondering which bus types did the first batch of ADDs replace when they first appeared.

If I'm not wrong, there were more LO3x than Merz 0405 after the LA were withdrawn. Confused
