Based on comparisions of the top-speed of the above, I determine
that the mkIII is NOT slower than the mkII. What makes people think
they are slow is probably the mkIII's poor acceleration, and the
draggy gears that go on and on like there is no tomorrow. What I
found out by looking at the speedometer, was that the mkIII changes
to 2nd gear at 40km/h, and to 3rd gear at 55km/h, and then cruises
at 65km/h, although it can go faster. Interestingly, the gearbox
does not seem very forgiving. The driver can just take his foot off
the pedal for 3s, and the bus will down-shift! It probably did so
at 60km/h, and the bus roared, jerked violently, and screeched!
Happened a few times. Baby at the back cries..........
