Please go see the poster again. Service 401 will not loop at the National Stadium area. Rolling Eyes

Service 401 will only ply one-direction (towards Bedok) along ECP Service Rd between Marine Parade flyover and Tanjong Rhu flyover.

This new route will inconvenience some passengers. For example, currently, passengers along East Coast Park Service Rd near Big Splash can take the service to Fort Rd and Mountbatten Rd, but with the amendment, they can’t do anymore as the service will be plying one-directional along this stretch of the road (between Fort Rd and Marine Parade flyover) and is heading towards Bedok only.

That's why I forget Wink

Changed my 1st post to say "Loop @ Marine Parade"

Can't keep track

Initally in 80's, it was Bedok to East Coast Pk (Loop)

Later, 1990's was Bedok to Geylang

Now is Bedok to Orchard Rd...

Too many changes liao

401 now don't serve the city but serve the more popular suburbs of Katong? Wink

sbst275 SG

No... Marine Parade and Old Airport... Today and tomorrow will the last week serving CBD...

gohby SG

well, i am quite certain in 1995, 401 is still Bedok to East Coast Park (Loop)

sbst275 SG

It was changed in 1997 if I could remember... The oringal rt lasted the longest

sbst275 SG

Em.... I said the direction towards CBD...

Demand is low to/from the CBD.

The following is a reply from SBST, mentioning about the low demand of service 401.

Please allow us to explain, when Service 401 was extended to
Tomlinson Road (The Regent Singapore), its operation hour was also
extended. However, despite the extension of the route and operation hours, the demand had been low and the service had not been able to cover its operating costs. Due to the weak demand for this service, we regret that it is not justifiable to further extend the operating hours.

Doesn't it plies Tanjong Katong Rd with the amendment? Rolling Eyes Isn't Tanjong Katong Rd in Katong?

tranquilice SG

Yes, 1997. Extended to Lor 1 Geylang terminal, together with a change in route from Bedok South Rd, Bedok South Ave 1 to Siglap Rd.

sbst275 SG

Yes it is... But if you write Katong, later will have other ppl mind that it serves East Coast Rd...

i tink the low demand of sv401 is are due to SBST's fault! When it was launch, there was only a banner at the Hereen bs to indicate a link to ECP bsides the usual poster at bs. Y wuz there nt enough publicity? Noo...
Ev1 who goes to ECP during weekends will only rem sv16/36 even though there's a direct bus of sv401. it's really a pity to amendment sv401... Sad
In addition, wouldn it b better that sv401 operates on School Holidays and start operations on Friday evenings, SAts & Sun/PH? an increase in ridership would only be significant if they put in more effort to promote the service...
