Operating on Sch Holidays is possible but logistics can be a problem as majority of svs still need the same no of buses deployed

Sv 401 is known @ Bedok since it had started in the 80's

True true, but i notice during 2004 school holidays, there are a lot of bus shuffling like SBS877M on sv16 on almos ev other day, sv196 has been taking a lot of JB buses, surely they can squeeze 2 buses out Rolling Eyes
it really is a waste to shorten sv401, nw the only MRT station link is Bedok...

Tanjong Katong Rd is also in the Katong area. It will be confusing if people refers to Tanjong Katong Rd as Tanjong Katong and refers to that stretch of East Coast Rd as Katong.

SBST had mention that it is not going to extend the operational hours of service 401 given its weak demand.

In my opinion, SBST should re-provide the link to Kallang station (the route before extension to Orchard) so that EWL passengers Pasir Ris bound don't have to alight at Bedok anymore.

i totali agree w you, or they should juz extend sv401 to loop at City Hall MRT station as it's one of the most heavily used MRT interchange stn, it will more or less increase ridership and as usual more promotion for the svc is required Exclamation

Why make the route so odd? Can’t they make it loop at National Stadium like Svc 31 used to do?

i tink the route is so weird coz it will allow commuters to tfr to Trunk services along MArine PArade Rd and Old Airport Rd, but i still think that the amendment nds to be tweaked Exclamation

On its previous route, service 401 passes by City Hall MRT station (Stamford Rd/Bras Basah Rd) but the demand is still very weak. When the service used to terminate at Lor 1 Geylang terminal, the demand is better though not to a large extent.

How many passengers will take the service from East Coast Park to National Stadium and vice-versa? Most of them taking from East Coast Park only want a link to the nearest MRT station or places where they can transfer to other services.

Wait till the goddamn CCL starts running. Most of it will be operational by 2007 as promised, only Nicoll Hwy section has been isolated.

The previous route (Orchard, National Stadium and ECP) covered two obscure areas that have no relationship to each-other. Nobody wants to travel from National Stadium to ECP and vice versa. The only interest is from the MRT or central area to either the stadium or ECP.

Well, they should make another sv… Provide more choices and maybe, an increase in ridership as buses are made attractive

Well, East Coast does not have enough parking lots on Sun/ PH... If can have a shuttle bet Marine Parade and East Coast would be better... Sv 401 can then go to Geylang

I know of a shuttle service between Eunos station and Marine Cove. Not sure if it still exists.

I noticed that Sv 401 has been running for 2 consecutive Friday evenings already. 24th and 30th respectively. Will keep a look out to see if this a trend or perm Friday evenings service
