New SBST service, call it sbst 115

bendy2003 SG

Hey guys, what do you all think of this route?

Kovan City (former Hougang South Interchange), St 21, Ave 1, Lor Ah Soo, Ave 3, Upp Serangoon Rd, St 21 and Kovan City.

Sounds ridiculous and ironic? It doesn't even go anyway near Hougang Central Interchange, BUT it will be launched this coming October 30th for a trial period of 6 months.

Btw, where is 114? LOL

iveco SG

Is this a fantasy topic or a press release? Rolling Eyes

kuekj SG

114 does not exist in the electronic bus guide.

I think this is a fantasy route..

This is not a fantasy route, its a real one. Banners and posters have been put up at Kovan City, but there have been no updates at SBST homepage yet.

IMO, the route looks very strange. Firstly, it starts and terminates at Kovan City, i.e. no proper Interchange or Terminal. Don't tell me they are planning to develop Kovan City into ...errr... terminal? Impossible lar.... Anyway this route is only a trial, like what the poster say.

Secondly, it looks like a one-way ticket like Bishan's 410, but without its twin sibling. So you can get from Hougang Ave 1 to Ave 3 but not vice versa. Thirdly, where the hack is svc 114....they jump queue!! Laughing

That routing is completely ridiculous!!!

I would rather see 113 being extended from Street 11 to Serangoon Central, finally giving us another link to the MRT there, as well as the swimming complex. They closed down the one at Paya Lebar last year much to my dismay...

Kinda weird!

But this concept is like Sv 42 and Sv 92, where the bus stop is the terminating point for these services. Most likely drivers will take their breaks at Hougang Int.

Service 115 is already confirmed to be introduced. In fact, the route is already up at Transitlink electronic guide page.

The route reminds me of 42. Bus stop used as terminating point. Also how come only 1 direction?

huaiwei SG

Given that I live in this area, I seriously wonder how much traffic it is going to get at all....if it is merely to serve the kids in school (3 schools along that route), and if its frequency is pertetic as I would expect. All just to feed traffic to Kovan mrt? Tonnes of bus services are doing that already, except for the Ave 3 stretch, but they usually just walk through to Ave 1 anyway.

pkcheah100 SG

I agree with you...113 to serangoon interchange.... Bus 53 is always so pack in the peak hours.... and infrequent during off peak...

THe new serviceis of no use where got ppl wanna take from HG ave1, travel one big round to kovan....

sbst275 SG

I think this is forced by the MP to provide bus svs there

PJ_Quek SG

Are they going back to the good old days? They are using the Hougang South Int as a terminating point for 115. 115 makes me think of 321, 50% of the 115 route is the same as the former 321. Cool

PJ_Quek SG

Ave 3 to Ave 1 quite near. Can walk. Even for those people living near the the stretch of Ave 3 between Tampines Rd and Upp Serangoon Rd can also take 113 opposite SRJC.

huaiwei SG

You live in this area too? Small world. Very Happy

I am thinking of writing in to SBST about this. The fact that 53 goes all the way to Changi and turning back, means by the time it reaches Lor Ah Soo, the frequency becomes pretty erratic. I have had experienced several instances of waiting 20 mins for it at 7am, just for a 4-bus stop ride!

A local service like 113 should be much easier to manage in terms of frequency and timing.

And yeah...folks in Ave 1 going to Kovan might as well take 113 from the other side of the road. The only folks I know who will most likely take this service are the factory workers in Defu industrail estate, especially so since 51 and 151 no longer gives them that link, and 323 has been removed long ago.

sbst275 SG

It is to fill the gap by Sv 51, 151 along Ave 3 to Kovan

sbst275 SG

Correct. The bus ‘reports’ to Hougang Int.

gohby SG

Might as well merge 119 with 115. New Service from Sengkang to Hougang Ave 3 (Loop). 119’s route till Hougang St 21 with the extension of 115’s route. How do you guys think?

medicheng SG

the moment i saw the notice I LOL.... wat kinda service is that? why sbs think this service out?

Why not a townlink service?

Plan A:

HG central - HG ave 10 - HG ave 2 - HG ave 8 - HG ave 9 - HG ave 8 - HG ave 2 - Kovan - HG ave 1 - Lor Ah Soo - HG ave 1 - Tampines Road - HG ave 7 - HG central

Plan B:

central, ave 10, ave 2, ave 8, ave 4, ave 9, st 92, buangkok green, ave 4, st 61, ave 8, ave 7, tampines rd, ave 1, lor ah soo, upp paya lebar, upp serangoon, central

sbst275 SG

I had thought of this long ago. It is no point for Sv 119 to just serve Sengkang - Kovan. But Sv 115 is really redundant
