Which bus services need to be withdrawn,Shortened or Reroute

No, it isn't. 518 goes to Elias Road via Drive 3 before hitting Drive 1 and down to Tampines. It doesn't go by 15's route.

An interesting topic

For me I will do a lot

Make Sv 3 to use direct rt to DTE and Punggol (Cutting out the 357 rt)
Replacing by Sv 4, Tampines to Pasir Ris St 71 as journey for Sv 3 is too long

Extend 18 to CBD (Tampines needs more CBD bound buses after 81 is cut)

Make either 1 Paya Lebar Air Base route to do peak hour only. Their demand is pathetic between 1000-1400, 1900-

I'm ok with that the withdrawal of 952... but at least retain the old 950 la! From wdlands to City Hall, Raffles Place and Tg Pagar by train is kinda long trip. I'm kinda pissed by that withdrawal of 950, 952 and 182. The loss can be felt even at this pt in time Sad

Tibs create 960 as a 'consolation' express service to please the Woodlanders I guess.. But only pass thru the outskirts of town.

cool_elf SG

Errmm ok.. now I know SMRT can be that evil to Woodlanders Evil or Very Mad Then Yishun ppl get 4 town services such as 167, 171, 851 and 857. At least a healthy balance of town buses and mrt, hehe.. Laughing

857 route quite well planned, I must say. It passes thru bencoolen, dhoby ghaut, city hall and suntec city. Isn't that great?

Woodlanders only got 2 town services namely 960 and 961. U try taking 961 from Wdlands to town, i can guarantee u will get nausea.. Mr. Green Should introduce one more express service from wdlands to town lah.

Sv 950 and 952... I have a lot of fond memories of those 2 services Smile Whenever i think back abt those 2 services, it brings me back the nostalgical days at city hall area... hehe.... Very Happy

I think 356 should be revived while 3 enter TPE from PSR Dr 8.

18 better off if it merges with 7.
12 should extend to Clementi via former 189 route.

94 is a day service, is it not?

sbst275 SG

What I hope is that 3 can still serve DTE yet shorter journey

7/ 18 combination might be too long (PTC is trying to stop this)
Same goes for 12/ 189

90/ 94, either 1 should be a Peak only service (0600-1000, 1400-2000)
But 94 should be the one as demand for 90 is as least better

No one from Yishun would ride 171 to town, big round via Bukit Panjang and Bukit Timah...167 doesnt ply Yishun Central and is mainly for residents along Upp Thomson Rd.

You should look at other towns. Say Tampines, services to town are 10 23 65 67, four, but no one will take 10, 65, or 67 to town. While looking at Pasir Ris, two longwinded routes 12 21 to the city. Boon Lay has only 30 to HarbourFront (quite slow already - 45min) and the worthless 502.

iveco SG

7/18 combo is still shorter than 14. Among Clementi services, it covers the biggest area.

7/18: 28(7)+9(1 Cool =37 stages each direction

14: 43 stages direction 1, 44 stages direction 2.

Or look at 51: 45 stages direction 1, 44 stages direction 2.

sbst275 SG

I think it may not work as passengers taking 18 will be affected much as they cannot get to Bedok town centre

leeJZ SG

Why not? Just walk from the Bedok MRT stop. Can also free up two berths at Bedok also.

sbst275 SG

Do you know the rt of 18? It does not use New Upp Changi Rd, it uses Bedok Nth St 1 instead (The back door). Meaning 18 will not get to Bedok town centre at all

iveco SG

It will become like 28. The closest it gets to Bedok Town Centre is the two stops at Bedok MRT station. 69 can provide an alternative for Tampines residents headed for Bedok Interchange.

leeJZ SG

Pax can walk to Bedok town ctr from Bedok MRT if 18 is merged with 7 Rolling Eyes

sbst275 SG

No, if we dun change the route, the bus will cal New Upp Changi Rd (Chai Chee) aft Bedok Nth St 1. Service 18 enters like 69 and not the former sv 28 provided IF it follows Sv 28 then can

BTW Bedok Nth St 1 is near Blk 400-410 is.

leeJZ SG

Just make it Bedok North Ave 3 - New Upp Changi Rd -> Svc 7 route...

sbst275 SG

Like that can, but passengers at Bedok Nth St 1 will be affected (Which I dun really think it is a prob unless going to Tampines Ave 2/7)

iveco SG

Maybe 168 can be diverted to ply Tampines Ave 2 & 7 in that case. To avoid conflicting with 67, 22 can ply Ave 5 while 18 cover Ave 4. A part of 7's route from PYL up to BDK Int is parallelled by 67, so making the 7/18 combo use Ave 5 may result in duplication.

sbst275 SG

I was thinking of a interim service to solve the problem to see the demand

Bedok Int, Bedok Nth St 1, Bedok Nth Ave 3, Bedok Reservoir Rd, Tampines Ave 2, Tampines Ave 7, Tampines Ave 4, Tampines St 21, Tampines St 23, Tampines Ave 2, Bedok Reservoir Rd, Bedok Nth Ave 3, Bedok Nth St 1, Bedok Int

sbs&tibs SG

A bit like duplicating 18.

sbst275 SG

It is a interim service to replace 18 up to Ave 7 (St 24). It will then use the small roads which 291 uses to get back. Will be on trial for 3 mths bef looking whether to add a Sv 4 there

That's why it is called T1 meaning Temp Sv 1

sbs&tibs SG

Oh, now I understand. Thanks
