Which bus services need to be withdrawn,Shortened or Reroute

No, it isn't. 518 goes to Elias Road via Drive 3 before hitting Drive 1 and down to Tampines. It doesn't go by 15's route.

I think 77 is virtually useless these days. It is practically duplicated by 106 from Holland V until Suntec City.

If 77 goes, 174 can ply Toh Tuck Rd to make up for its loss. Sixth Ave is served by 970.

Some gut feeling tells me that CCL's opening may herald the demise of 77.

leeJZ SG

Then there goes the DDs on 174.

77 is a useful link for Toh Tuck / Sixth Ave residents to Orchard.

Does 77 duplicate any part of CCL???

what about extending 77 to changi airport, via bugis then ECP, can be much faster than svc 36.

or take over 36 and merge it with 77, lol Mr. Green

iveco SG

Not easy, SBST & SMRT are arch-rials. They will never cooperate so don't expect this to happen.

IMO, Suntec has become a dumping ground for ex-NEL svcs. Furthermore, CCL runs from Dhoby Ghaut to Paya Lebar via Suntec, so major changes in that area are not ruled out.

SBST and SMRTBus are actually good friends behind the scenes. All the talk about "competition" is bull, IMO.

sbst275 SG

Actually, why not merge 77 and 106 into Bt Batok - Marina Ctr?

Then, then places like Toh Tuck or Clementi, then adjust the services there like say convert 502 into rapid service..

leeJZ SG

How to merge? Rolling Eyes

They run completely different routes for the first half of their journey.

sbst275 SG

Actually, this is my plan

77 - Bt Batok to Marina Ctr
106 - Bt Batok to Buona Vista

Then
West corridor rationlisation plan
502 - Convert to Sv 94
New Service 90 - Jurong East to New Bridge Rd (Loop)

On the same day, the current 90 (Toa Payoh - Paya Lebar air base) will be renumbered to 144

service_238 SG

er for your info SP students and clementi peeps (those who dont prefer 502) do need a direct bus to the heart of orchard and suntec.

I'm emphasing HEART of orchard so that you wont reply me with "There's 105 to Orchard".

sbst275 SG

It will be served by my sv 90

90 (Jurong East - New Bridge Rd)
Jurong East Central, Jurong Town Hall Rd, Jurong East Ave 1, Toh Guan Rd, Boon Lay Way, C'wealth Ave West, C'wealth Ave, Nth Buona Vista Rd, Holland Rd, Napier Rd, Tanglin Rd, Orchard Rd, Clemencau Ave, River Valley Rd, New Bridge Rd

Return: Eu Tong Sen St, River Valley Rd, Clemancau Ave, Somerset Rd, Orchard Turn, Orchard Blvd, Napier Rd, Holland Rd, Nth Buona Vista Rd, C'wealth Ave, C'wealth Ave West, Boon Lay Way, Toh Guan Rd, Jurong East Ave 1, Jurong Town Hall Rd, Jurong East Ctrl

tranquilice SG

If you don't mind the long journey, can take service 14. Razz

leeJZ SG

svc 14 actually from Orchard - Clementi not that long, my brother takes it often from Orchard - Dover.

sbst275 SG

Extend 81 to Marina Centre?

Extend 91 to Bt Merah?

sbs&tibs SG

Whatz the point? TL already cut 81 route to SGN and 91 is just a shuttle at ayer rajah cres

sbst275 SG

Maybe need not ask to 81. But 91 can be extended as C'wealth Ave and Alexadra Rd has no buses to Bt Merah. Ayer Rajah Ind Est workers can have links to Bt Merah for a bigger hawker centre for lunch.

leeJZ SG

they are already linked to Holland Village which has tons of eateries... Cool

svc 81 will not be touched, I think the rather good loads in Tampines / Pasir Ris makes up for the poor loads in Hougang / Serangoon.

sbst275 SG

But they are not hawker centres but more towards restaurants still

gynobcard SG

how long are their lunch hrs? 2hrs? be realistic. given the demand pattern and frequency, by the time the bus comes it will be time to go back to work

tranquilice SG

There are already food courts and food centre in Ayer Rajah Ind Est itself. If they want to go to Bt Merah, they can walk out and take services 14 or 197, it's not that far from Buona Vista flyover.

sbst275 SG

Then make it as link between Queenstown MRT to Bt Merah. There are no direct buses there then.. This extn I have 3 main reasons actually

tranquilice SG

But not service 91.
