Very hard? Open a map and look again. Trust me, it's not that hard. And by the way, no matter who operates the bus services, Bt Batok/Bt Panjang is still in the western region of Singapore.

Also, BBDEP is part of SBS West District.

Look in this way, yes Bt Batok is considered West. But that LTA treats it North, otherwise it wouldn't be given to Tibs.

Tibs needs to take over CCK anf Bt Batok "in order to fulfill residents needs"

Now I see your point. You are looking into classification of districts as done by LTA and not looking it geographically like the rest of us.

By the way, I don't think Bt Batok/Bt Panjang was given to TIBS in exchange for Sengkang/Punggol because it was classified North districts by LTA. Anyone can back that claim?

i dont think anyone can.
This CCK/BBT and SKG/PUN is an exchange programme. Otherwise SBST will have shortage of buses while TIBS will have excess buses.

Tibs lose the bid to NEL, so Tibs had to give up Sengkang/Punggol to SBST, while SBST had to give up CCK and Bt Batok to Tibs. It's like areas to areas exchange.

Yes, I'm aware of that. But th1988 pointed out that CCK/BB/BP was handed over to TIBS because CCK/BB/BP was considered a North district by LTA. Is that the real reason for the exchange, apart from the NEL reason?

Bukit Panjang was handed over as of the WDL Extn prior to its opening in 1996. The Tibs takeover was announced in 1994.

As for CCK and Bt Batok, it is taken over as it is the next "northern" new town as they have to get a swap.

But why swap?

I believe that the Bt Panjang handover has nothing to do with the Woodlands MRT extension.

But the service is to link up places to MRT stn and complement the heavy corridor of the MRT.

This also gives SMRT a run for their money as of the 7 mins frequency (Off Peak)
