But you should know how costly to build such short route and LRT is to serve New Towns but Marine Parade is not a New Town but an estate under Geylang.

After Bt Panjang LRT, it was annouced that LRT systems will only be implemented in newly developed towns (e.g. Punggol) and NOT existing towns.

Yes, out of the 3 rail lines (ie. Bukit Timah, Eastern and Jurong), it is mentioned by LTA that only the Jurong line will be LRT.

actually iPhase 1 does not go under NSL tunnels at all, from DBG to CVC and beyond.. it goes under EWL..=)

actually it's more like they will extend the PYL-MRP sector in the future to become ERL but at the moment a high-speed express rail link between PYL and MRP looks justified...

Saw the news yesterday? The stations and tunnels of phase 1 are nearing completion, and diverted roads will be back to their original alignment within 6 months.

And also because of the History Museum building which is right above Museum station. It is reported that Museum station is built very deep so as not to affect the foundation of the Museum itself.

Quite interesting read on the guesses on the location of the mrt stations provided by fellow members.

I have also made some guesses. b4 presenting my version, would like to reply to the topic regarding the position of Holland station.

If the station is located at the suggested location, ie @ blk 12, it will be too near Buona Vista station and a big portion of their catchment area will overlap. More importantly, the current location will act as an interchange when a future line the runs through Holland Road is constructed.

Here's my version
1. CCL Phase 6
Yes. it should be a closed loop. In fact the line is planned as a 35 station 40km line, of which 29 stations, 33.3km has been announced. 5 of the 6 remaining stations have been revealed in the new downtown plan. They r Tanjong Pagar, East Lagoon, Marina Bay, Bayfront and Sheares (these 2 stations r near both ends of Marina City Park) and will be linked up @ Millenia station. The last station should be @ KTM Railway station. Unlikely to be built until Marina South is very developed?

2. BTL
According to the concept plan, the line will be extended to the missing station on NSL, ie NS6 @ Sungei Kadut. then it will be further extended north towards the causeway, make a u turn back to Woodlands b4 linking up with yet to be revealed Thomson Line.

The known info of this line is it serves Bukit Panjang, Upper Bukit Timah and Bukit Timah so I shall terminate @ Bukit Panjang

According to LTA, this line is supposed to be intra and intertown links for eastern regions, namely Tampines, Kaki Bukit, MacPherson, Marine Parade. but according to the concept plan, it looks more like 2 EWLs (1 in the north while the other in the south) running // to the current 1.
The other known info is MacPherson will be an interchange.

Southern Route
If u recall, when Marina Line was 1st announced, it has another leg that comes from Chinatown station. I believe it is part of ERL. The 5 stations as shown in the new downtown plans r

For CCL phase 6, I think LTA has plan not to build it.

Roughly when will the Bukit Timah line and the stations be announced? This year? Next year?

Will it finish together at the same time as the Circle line stage 5?

The Bukit Timah Line, the Eastern Region Line and the Western Region Line was cited to be constructed within the next 10-15 years. Currently, LTA is in the stage of doing feasibility studies. I think once they concluded that it is justifiable for the rail lines to be built, only then the locations of the stations and bidding by constructuon companies will be announced. The earliest date for the announcement could be this year.

that's very optimistic! CCL phase 5 will roll in 2010 and they anounced the routes in 2003.

if it's for another 10 years for bukit timah line to roll, then it shall anounce in 2006, it may drag to anounce in 2007.

why 2007? as rail lines may be a carrot or candy for many.

Actually, in view of the bad economy conditions. The govt has announced that ERL and BTL will not be built for the next 10 years. So only the CCL will be built
