Hougang South is next to Heartland Mall.
Will be converted into a carpark.

Buses will operate from Hougang Central. (Hougang Mall)

oh ok.. thanks.. wont affect me too much den, except i will miss out on a reason to pop by heartland mall and tt area. jus went there recently after a very long time, and realise how bustling it is!

101 will be operated in Serangoon , 112 and 113 will be operated at hougang central interchange, don't get confused. Wink

sad that hougang south is closing down, i just came back from hougang central interchange, bustling with people... maybe its sunday but now most services start from here... the old feeder buses are replaced with 112, 113, a bit blur... must try out one day... Smile

Feeder services 322 and 327 are replaced by trunk service 112.
Feeder services 321 and 326 are replaced by trunk service 113.
Feeder service 328 has been re-numbered trunk service 101 and operates from Serangoon interchange.

All these has been effective from 15 Feb.

I’ve been living near that interchange the past 18++ years. In fact, I’ve been living around there while it was still being built. Sad to see it go leh. Hougang central should be the one to go.

Nope, Hougang Central interchange cannot go, as it is in the Hougang town centre while Hougang South interchange is in Hougang N2.

Back then, the bus interchange in Hougang was bulit in N2 because Hougang Central was not as developed as N2.

I wonder if HDB had plans to develop Hougang into a big housing estate. Otherwise why would there be 2 bus interchanges of the same name? (Hougang)

Did HDB thought of developing it within the boundaries of Upp Serangoon Rd, Lor Ah Soo, Hougang Ave 3 and Hougang Ave 7 and not expanding it further back then?

Possible, because they wanted to keep it within that boundary, but eventually decided to expand towards Punggol Rd / YCK Rd.

I looked at my 1988 street directory and saw that there were Hougang Ave 4, 6, 8 and 10 back then. On map 159, you can saw "Hougang Town Centre" which is in Hougang Central itself, however, Hougang Central was still un-developed with a few shops during that time, so the bus interchange was built at Hougang St 21 which was more developed and had more human traffic. The interchange at Hougang Central only open for operation in 1994.

When Hougang Central interchange opened in 1994, the authority had plan to close the south interchange at the same time, but it was decided to close the south interchange after NEL starts operation.
