Closure of Hougang South Interchange

All in all its the HDB that cause all the probem....why developed hougang south half way and decide to shift it to Hougang central

Poor town planning. Hougang town centre already existed back in 1980s but to build an interchange in that un-developed town centre was not fleasible, so it was built in Hougang neighbourhood 2 which was more developed.

Remember the underpass connecting Suntec City and One Raffles Link? Now it's not in use due to construction of Circle line, and LTA had to waste money by building a temporary overhead bridge.

I can tell you this

It is not poor planning, but slow development at NE corridor. Why? HDB used to say it is inaccesible as there is no MRT and so they built Woodlands and Sembawang.

But who knew that when NEL started, SKG, HGN flats were the most popular.

That's the excuse not to built NEL as they said it was undeveloped. All this are their "reasoning". It's all their "plan" long ago.

why must be the town center be locate in the central location? Looking at CBD of SG, it is located at the southern most end of SG... If it is realy necessary to to have the town center in the central location, why not shift the CDB zone to central location since it is not stratetgically located

OK, if you were to take Pure Geog, you would understand town planning.

It does not mean the town has to be in the center. A town centre can be anywhere in a new town where all the roads, bus rts meet, this is the most important point. Also it is the place where the MRT stn is.

It's all along there. It is in the southern part as that was where the trading was at that time because of the Singapore River - Our Legend.

Not necessary that the town centre be in the central of a town. Toa Payoh town centre is located in the south of the town.

Of town centers, AMK and Woodlands have theirs right smack in the center. As for Bishan, well, it's a very small town center.

For Woodlands, the one nearer to the checkpoint is called Woodlands Town Centre, while the one where the bus interchange and Woodlands MRT are located, is called Woodlands Regional Centre. Right or wrong?
