Good news for Punggol Residents:
" RESIDENTS in Punggol will have more bus services in their estate
by the end of the year, their MP, Ms Penny Low, promised
yesterday.
The number of services has not been confirmed, she said, but it
will reduce, if not eliminate, the need for residents to take a
feeder bus to the Sengkang Interchange for a transfer out of the
north-eastern corner of Singapore to the city centre.
This 'mini interchange', as Ms Low described it, is slated to be at
the present Punggol Terminal, which has only one bus service
now.
The terminal is next to the Punggol MRT station on the North-East
Line, which is scheduled to be opened on Friday.
The current 12,000 homes in the two-year-old Punggol 21 estate will
get a more comprehensive interchange when the population in the
area increases, Ms Low told reporters after a walkathon at Punggol
North to raise funds to help needy residents.
Punggol 21, when fully developed is expected to house 80,000
families."
